In April Reclaim Brixton protested against the selling off our of city to the bankers and speculators and the driving out of community. We had speakers from Housing Campaigns across the Borough and from the Save the Arches. We wanted to give voice to our community. to celebrate our community and to build on the resistance and solidarity within the community.
Now we face a new government who want to speed up the sell off of everything we own to the bankers and the speculators at the same time as implementing 12 billion pounds of cuts to benefits. Our NHS, our remaining social housing, housing benefit, disability benefits, child benefit & working tax credits are all under threat. Our youth and children services and libraries are all cut to the bone as our council's budget continues to be slashed.
Our community like communities across the country is under attack. The idea of the Assembly on June 27th is a space for our community to stand up and speak out. We need to reclaim democracy to reclaim our city our rights and our voice. An open space for our community to speak, to organise to resist to build solidarity to meet to celebrate who we our and the cultures of our community and our resistance..
