R.I.P. Robert Hardy

Sirena

Don't monkey with the buzzsaw
I liked him and he has died.

A whole generation sat down each Sunday to 'All Creatures Great and Small' and Siegfried was the man!

Sorry to hear that, he was in so many TV programmes and films over the years.
I remember him in particular as Robert Dudley in the Elizabeth R series with Glenda Jackson.

Extraordinarily long run. I was first aware of him as a regular character in the BBC series MOGUL/The Troubleshooters in the mid to late sixties but he had already been appearing in supporting TV roles for 15 years.

Here he is with Richard Burton in 1965 - the year they both turned 40.

Cool picture , they were good pals.

A great character actor and an enthusiastic medieval war history.
He was an accomplished longbow man, as stated above and it was through his love of the history of historical conflict that brought him to be the official patron of the Towton Battlefield Society, for whom he also made this short film to promote the commemoration of the bloodiest battle ever fought in England, on the 550th anniversary.

RIP.

Two of the three great men in this scene of cinematic history have been taken from us it would be a tragedy if the reaper were to claim the third.

Anyway bugger Siegfried. Robert Hardy directed "The Wickerman". That's his real claim to fame.

I don't think it was the same Robert Hardy who directed Wickerman :hmm: :D

I've been away all week, I've only just learned Robert Hardy had died. :(:(:(:(

I met him once and I *so* wanted him to be as impressive IRL as he was when acting. He wasn't.

A brilliant actor though. RIP.
