Queens Road Area in Peckham

Hi,

Does anybody who posts on here live around the Queens Road area of Peckham?

I'm looking at a House on Dayton Grove later this week and wanted to get a general idea of what the area is like as I'm not very familiar with it.

Thanks

I used to live in Peckham and I wouldn't buy a house near Queens road tbh sorry!

Peckham Rye is nice!

i've lived off Queens road and in Peckham Rye and the latter is quieter, greener and 'posher' as its nearer east dulwich.

Queens road was great to be a student in, lots of cheap shops open late but some dodgy goings on after dark.

Cheers for the reply. What's wrong with the area? Unsafe at night?

Well I was happy to walk down Peckham High St and down Rye lane home after getting off the 36 at half 10 each night.

I dont think I'd walk past that estate on stilts - just looked dodgy as fuck.

its ok to walk along queens road in front of the estate on stilts but not through it or round the back.

some nice big houses round there though so worth a look and just see if you like it. is well connected for trains and buses and has the best persian shop in the world not to far away.... mmmmm..... baklavas..... contemplates moving back to peckham :D

ETA if the estate scares you that much you can always get a bobby to walk you home, they're right next door!
just dont get them to accompany you to the turkish cafe that only sells weed and hash!

Cheers folks. I actually live at the top end of Brixton Hill at the moment and it scares the f*ck out of people when I bring them up here but....It's that feeling of going somewhere I don't know about. Not sure what to make of Queens Road area....been round there once before and it looked a bit sketchy TBH.

I have been told to forget about North Peckham and North of Queens Road though...lots of goings on round there apparently....

Horses for courses though :)

Some areas I dont have any problems or fears walking round as a white person, there's still loads of racism in the world. I dont think I'd say the same if I was black.

In fact I have black mates who dont go to certain areas because of it.

i was wondering if you meant peckhams no good if you're white or if you're black.

none of the 12 white people i lived with in various parts of peckham ever had any serious trouble, muggings burglaries etc.

we did get shouted at by some white drunk / crack heads and were made to apologise for killing jesus though :D

lol I don't know about SE15, but round here the stories which crackheads/junkies give you to get money are jokes - one guy gave me this story about how he's run out of money for the electric meter, his dad was stuck in the bath, and there was no more hot water, so he needed to take him somewhere where he could give him a shower and I think he wanted the money for the cab or something.

er... why not just use the money for the meter so you can warm up the water and give your dad a bath? he's already in... all you need is more hot water innit! :D

that's what drugs do to you, kids! I gave him £1 for his cheek though. :D
