Punctures (breakdown recovery)

hash tag

Books, not bombs
Bearing in mind that many newish cars now come without a spare of any description and following on from other threads, I have since discovered that the RAC can offer a universal spare wheel if you suffer a puncture. I have no idea how this works. I imagine it is limited to 50 MPH but no other notion about it. Anyone know and anyone know if other companies offer this service?
There is a rumour that AA will also do this. GEM will not.

Well you can usually buy a spare wheel as an option from the manufacturer, which might be cheaper than that provided by a recovery company.

Don't the cars sans spare wheel have to come with a puncture spray anyway? It'd be useless on a properly fucked up tyre, but most flats a driver is ever going to experience will be a puncture rather than a blowout. They really do work, IME at least.

I wouldn't touch the puncture repair stuff, if nothing else it is a temporary and final fix. You have to get a new tyre afterwards.
