Power Automate / Flow / Office 365

Throbbing Angel

this is no longer a place of honour
Oi Oi,
This seems to be the forum where people ask about Excel so I thought I'd ask about another M$ product in here for a work-related task.

Hopefully, I can use Power Automate to make lives easier so that's a good thing.

I want to automate the following process:

Someone currently looks at 2 x inboxes (Outlook) to check that the staff processing incoming work are on top of it. They do this hourly-ish - but people forget, aren't at their desks when whatever reminder they've set pings, get interrupted, etc. blah

What with Covid, WFH, people constantly in/out/WFH/sick/not sick/isolating/not isolating/oh hang on, isolating again etc. things are getting overlooked.

So I want to automate the 'remembering to look at these 2 inboxes every hour or so' bit of the process - so Flow or Power Automate looks at these two Outlook inboxes, makes a note of the number of emails in the inboxes at that point in time and emails that info to 6 people - or sends it to a specific Team in M$ Teams.

Completed emails are moved to another folder as they are completed, so there is no need to discern between Unread/Read emails in this count - just 'how many in total'.
If counting Unread is easier to do/the only option - then that's fine too :)

Am just starting out with the automation side of things - it looks very powerful if you can use it. As is sometimes the way, time is short and training is nil  :D

What say you 'Urbs?
Doable?

It’s not something I’ve used, but reading this it sounds like it should be possible

This sounds familiar :D

Well, first I'd say "What the fuck is that apostrophe, eh???"

After a while I might calm down and note the following: "...remembering to look at these 2 inboxes every hour or so... makes a note of the number of emails in the inboxes at that point in time and emails that info to 6 people... " and reflect that some people might want to start off with simple Power Automate tasks first.

Then our selfless hero might do a sharp intake of breath, point to his day rates and say "Yes, I can do that for you...."

Depending on your org, I found the worst aspect of setting rules like this up is that trying to switch connectors to authenticate the flow is an absolute pain in the arse. Mine tends to just auto login with whoever your logged in as.

You should be able to get around it by sharing the flow to the inboxes and letting them edit the flow.

You should be able to setup a scheduled flow to check an inbox, I’d have to double check if that can then keep track of number of emails.
