Pit stop between Maidenhead and Ilfracombe

QueenOfGoths

Fuck you Dave!
We are heading to Ilfracombe tomorrow on holiday taking the M4 then M5.

We're basically looking for somewhere to stop for lunch and a wander as we don't need to be in Ilfracombe until 4.00pm which is when we can pick up the keys for our holiday let.

We're familiar with Bristol as we have had family who lived there and friends that still do so as much as it's a great place we're not looking to stop there. However that's my knowledge of the south west finished :oops::facepalm::facepalm:

Any suggestions for places that might be nice for a quick visit, or anywhere that might do us a nice lunch?

If you're a National Trust member Dyrham Park is not far off the M4 near Bath, it has play areas (it's a child airing steep walk down to the house and back) you can get the usual NT tea and baked potato type lunch although it's a nice spot for a picnic and there's likely to be cows and deers to spot. The house is very scenic too.
