piers morgan (and the daily mail) keep it classy

How's Rowling a bastard then?
I have no dirt on her per se. But Harry Potter has a big seam of reactionary tosh running through it. You apparently can only be magical if you are from the right bloodline. Oh and the language of magic conveniently happens to be Latin.

Magic sounds better in Latin somehow, Ave Kedavara sounds so much better than Drop Dead

But the snobby witches and wizards in the story who believe you have to be from the "right bloodline" are considered baddies by Harry and chums, and they usually get their come-uppance.

There you go again. Using your pesky facts to make Wolveryeti sound like a conspiraloon.

Has there ever even been a 'magic' book/film, in the english language, where Spells were in anything other than either Latin or a madey-up language?

and the world is saved by the good elite once again as the dull muggles (code) live their oblivious lives. Midnight feasts all round.

theres nothing 'conspiraloon' about examining a text and drawing conclusions. If you disagree then fine, rebut. And remember the authors conscious intention is not required for conclusions to be drawn

Its a kids book and film series.
Having the magic users die in a hail of ak bullets as the oppresed proletariat storm hogwarts would be a hard sell as a childrens book :D
Hmm. Not sure you're right there, Mr. Fish. Were you ever a child? Have you ever observed children?
