[Lord Camomile]

Modestly inspired by Pickman's model's thread on libraries, thought it would be nice to have a thread for one of my other personal favourite spaces: the cinema.

Lots to choose from, but was inspired to start a thread by a memory of the gorgeous 'historical screen' in Vienna's Metro Kinokulturhaus*.

ArtHouse in Crouch End was a new discovery for me at Christmas, been a couple of times since. Over lockdown they added an angel to their front.

Already have a favourite spot, sitting in the front row of the balcony level

The Chinese Theatre in LA. It is still a working cinema and has a small museum. It does look like its pictures. I went there and saw one of Mission Impossible films shot in London, which was weird…

this little community one in Rye (south kent coast) is attractive
small and modern inside

Art Deco Broadway in Letchworth. I slept through one of the star wars prequels in there

Grand inside - looks like its been done up tbh - i remember it being big but draughty

Lewisham’s lost cinemas

Lewisham was for many years the last London borough without a cinema. But, back in the 1930s, there were over twenty venues showing films! This page gives more information about some of the cinemas…
