Phone charger advice

Wookey

Muppet is not a slur
I've left my phone charger in London, can anyone tell me what I'm looking for, so I can get a new one quick?

It was a plug that went into the mains, with a micro USB on one end, but crucially the cable detached from the plug and had a grown up USB on the other end so I could charge from my laptop, or pop files onto my phone etc...

The ones I've seen at Argos don't appear to be like this, or they want a tenner for a cable and more for a separate plug and they can fuck off.

Thanking you in advance!

So if you lost the charger cable and the plug you need both.

I think the charger cable is called a Micro-USB but I don't know what the plug is called.

What phone is it?

No I need the plug coz I charge the phone sometimes from a wall, and sometimes I link it to my laptop and use my giffgaff data to access the webz you see. Dual use.

I don't have a kindle. :(

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy something something.

I think there are a variety of plugs with USB connections available, different in their amperage.

Yes, it's partly for charging from the mains, and then bish bash bosh, tethering as a web access device on my laptop.

Hope that's clearer!

Couldn't see the like at argos today, was expecting to pay a tenner perhaps...theres loads of micro USB cables but I need the mains plug function too.

My Kangertech Vaping kit has a Micro-USB cable and a mains plug.

The mains plug is rated at DC5V, 0.5A

Well that sounds like it could be it.

What's a good shop to go in to speak to a person about it then? Carphonewarhouse?

You can get them on amazon, dude. Might need to buy the cable and plug separate, but hey ho.

Failing that, any decent sized electrical outlet should do - maplins or the like.

Edit: just check that it will do data as well as charging. Can't imagine many on the shelves wouldn't these days, but y'know.

I've ordered one of those superfast ones that keybored posted... My phone is the Galaxy J3 (who knew?!) so hopefully it's the right juice pipe.

It does yeah, coz I haven't got Bluetooth on my laptop. It's coal powered too. :(

Just for future reference, it doesn't need Bluetooth. You set your phone up as a wireless hotspot. Your wireless adapter on your laptop should be able to see it as an available wireless network to connect to.
I.e. Wi-Fi not Bluetooth.

Ah, I meant wi-fi... I don't think I have Wi-Fi on my laptop.

Although I might try it now to check. :hmm:

You don't need Bluetooth. You turn on the mobile wifi hotspot on the phone, then connect to it as if to any other wifi network.

Eta xenon got there first.
