Hated by both sides
I’d rather wait until all three are out. I don’t think that Pullman would do a Rothfuss and simply give up on a trilogy, but it’s always nicer to read a series in a single go.
You pay 20% more for e-books because of VAT, so the cost of the Kindle version is more like £8 compared to the £20 RRP of the hardback, and you still need to pay for editing, typesetting, formatting, retailer fees etc.Cheaper to produce? Paperbacks often retail for less, no?
Anyway, like I said I’m happy to pay a premium for a “nice” hb set of the trilogy. Just not for an ebook.

I went from not really listening, radio on in the background to sat, motionless, glued to every word. 2 1/2 hours of a well-read quality story, bring on the rest.A tenner is a bit much. I can't manage physical copies so will just have to wait for the price to come down.
It's on Radio Four tomorrow so I might just listen to that BBC Radio 4 - Drama, The Book of Dust
If I could be arsed I'd start a campaign to remove VAT from ebooks on the grounds of disability discrimination. They're much better for lots of people with disabilities - arthritis and sight problems, for example - so it's a bit shit that they cost more due to tax.
You're not going to keep it? Whaaaaat?!
I've not finished yet. I'll say this though -a book has never made me physically jump before but this did.
That's nice I'm a selfish book hoarderIt not the posh hard back llama has and plus the better for someone else to enjoy that gather dust under the bed
I wonder what he means by first one.A bloke was reading this on the Tube yesterday. I asked if I really was any good and he said "Not as good as the first one". But he was biting his thumb nail while he was reading and he was holding the page ready to turn it, so he se into md to be enjoying it plenty.
I wonder what he means by first one.
I absolutely love his writing about writing, it's hugely inspirational.Just seen him speak about this and other writing. He was brilliant. One of the best authors I heard speak. Funnny, inclusive and lots of insights as well as engaging with the audience. It was great.
And that even though while I like his books, they’re not my favourites*.
* I didn’t say that to him that though...
Cool, will look at that .I absolutely love his writing about writing, it's hugely inspirational.

I realise this was almost a year ago and that you aren't responsible for your friend's opinions but if you could muster up some fury on my behalf and bellow 'YOU TAKE THAT BACK' at your friend I'd be much obliged.she said "I thought it had a weak ending"
