Philip Pullman - new trilogy

didn't know the BBC were doing a tv adaptation of HDM - ace! Cant find much new info on this on the old t'interweb though. Supposed to be this year.

Give it a couple of years and every charidee shop/second hand store will have several copies. That's how I got the original trilogy...

I don't want a physical copy, yet. If its good, I'll buy some nice HB edition of the entire trilogy when that's out. In the meantime I want to read the thing on my kindle. I'm not paying the same price as the HB to do that though.

That's pissed me off, that has.

I'd have paid like a "normal" full ebook price for it. But charging the same as for a hardback? Grrrr.

they know it'll be on the torrent sites quick as f. suppose it has to be at full whack for a bit.

Self defeating though innit?

They’ll lose sales. I would’ve paid for this and stumped up £30odd for a nice hardback edition of the complete trilogy.

Now, I’m faced with either pirating it and then still buying the trilogy later.

Or, more likely, waiting to see if the ebook price comes down but spotting the physical book in a charity shop in the meantime and spending a couple of Quid on that and then not bothering with the fancy HB.

Fools.

Picked it up in waterstones , nearly bought it but must wait till payday... Although I'm not entirely sure when payday is...

Why do you think the Kindle version would/should be cheaper?

edit: fwiw, the RRP of the hardback is £20 anyway.

£10 is quite standard for new releases on the kindle, isn’t it? I bought Homegoing earlier this year for that because I didn’t want to wait until the British paperback release.

Mind you, I got the kindle version of TBOD1 on pre-order (forgot buying it so it was a nice surprise when it turned up ) and I think it was quite a bit cheaper than that.

Cheaper to produce? Paperbacks often retail for less, no?

Anyway, like I said I’m happy to pay a premium for a “nice” hb set of the trilogy. Just not for an ebook.
