When I was a much younger soul there were four major concerns for the thinking soul;

Cold War

Apartheid

Northern Ireland Troubles

Middle East

Thankfully the first three have vanished from daily life, there's a ghostly memory and sad echos slowly fading with time.

The Middle East remains but as I see it the hard effort which quietened the first three seems to have evapourated when it comes to the last, instead it has been replaced by the wildest and worst elements of the fight against the first three.

If the current trends offered, be they crusader or jihadi, against Middle Eastern problems had been applied to the "original trinity" then the cold war would have been settled by an exchange of nukes, apartheid by either whites killing all blacks or blacks killing all whites and N.I by a similar battle of Protestants v Catholics.

All of these are bloodbaths that, thankfully, didn't happen, but a settlement has been realised. And when it comes to it the settlement in RSA was by far the most civilised, and it used a simple premise to replace the ignorant "put them up against the wall" ideal, it used a progressive idea of drawing a finish to it and without delivering blame.

Now had highly sophisticated and educated Europe applied such a non-blame ideal after the first world war, eg: no reparations, there wouldn't have been a second world war.

So when it comes to the middle east it's time to adopt more maturity, more thought and more restraint; then, and only then might a peaceful settlement be seen on the horizon.

Not all Jews are terrorists, just as not all Muslems are terrorists, just as not all Christians are terrorists, just as not all Atheists are terrorists, the nations they live in are not all terrorists. It might be good to consider that most people don't support terrorism, but because of it's insidious nature they're not neccessarily in the position to stand against it.

In the West we are able to stand against it, and we should enjoy that LUXURY and use it to the advantage of all of those who are oppressed by such terrorism, regardless of gender, race, sexuality, faith or nationality.

Now this is just a humble forum, the best in the world, but it's still just a forum. Through the undoubted hard work from the editor and his brave team of moderators we are permitted an opportunity to openly and honestly discuss matters related to the Middle East. No pigeonholing, labelling or other stereotypes are needed to talk here.

More and more I find this abused to deliver a political point and I'm fed up with it. I'm also bored with seeing those who deliver an unpopular opinion slighted for daring to express themselves. Address the opinion rather than insult it in a vain attempt to deflect it. PLEASE!

Some of you know I have some humble Lebanese Maronite heritage, I still have contact with some family there, and have been offered on more than one occassion the opportunity to go there, take up arms and shoot people from another faction. I've declined this each and every time, and not because I'm a coward, and not because I don't have "enough" Arab blood to care or dare, but because I can see from the comfort of England that this will not actually help in the long term in the slightest. I'd like to think if I were Muslem or Jew I'd decline in a similar fashion.

Now if I can deny violence it's un-natural course why can't everyone else?

If I can see adopting political posturing is pointless, why can't you?

Stop blaming everyone else, especially those at the top and let's get this moving and start a grass roots trend to actually change something, let us stop being the aggressive and become the pacifiers. Let's use our wealth, our educations and our empathic hearts to deliver peace unto all in the middle east regardless.

Stop feeding the fires of hate, lets try to develop a mindset where all are truely equal and the countries of the middle east are known for their culture or their people rather than their war.

War war happens when jaw jaw has failed.

If everyone in Israel was forced only to partner with someone from Palestine and vice versa, war would be limited to inter marriage argument and there would be one land “Palarel” or “Isestine”.

They will not do this because some (a lot) of Israelis think they are different, their government thinks this, thinks they are not JUST SIMPLE HUMANS like the rest of us all over the planet they have a special God.

Also people on the Palestinian side think that as Muslims they are different, that they are not the same as Jews and that the Jews have stolen their lands and are killing their people which they are.

The sad truth is that all Jews and all Arabs are in fact EXACTLY THE SAME HUMAN ANIMALS.

Israel building walls around its settlements is like a rich person building a wall around their house and putting a guard hut and perhaps CCTV cameras and perhaps guard dogs in an effort to keep their riches safe from the poor people outside.

But there is always a door and people can get over and under walls and if the discrepancy between the rich in the big house and the poor outside the walls is too large, there is always a revolution and the rich are slaughtered.

History teaches me that at least.

Honestly I could carry on all night.

The real solution is madness.

A peaceful way of living that just might suggest we are at least as good as the other animals on the planet, human behaviour at the moment certainly does not suggest we are superior to animals in fact as a species humans look pretty awful.

Of course there is only one thing stopping us from doing that and it is called HUMAN GANG BEHAVIOUR if you do not recognise these words they are also known as NATION STATES or also very often known as RELIGIONS.

All the humans on the planet are the same

Thanks for the edit, good common sense in your post, I agree this conflict is the present evil and unless something special is done our children’s children will still be getting worked up discussing it in 100 years time.


I am so fed up hearing about it, and the failure of the leaders there on the ground to come to a peaceful settlement that I have in the past suggested the insane totally mad option.

I suggested giving both Palestine and Israel very powerful zero range nuclear devices that would obliterate both nations in an instant.

Then ensuring they had their fingers on the button, a mediator would usher them and their interpreters into a conference room where they would be locked in with the instruction that they had to be civilised and reach a sensible settlement that would ensure lasting peace.

They would have to stay in the room for good because the two self-destruct buttons would be fixed somehow and not be removable.

One of two things would have then occurred:

1) Civilised dialog aiming to find a solution that could be satisfactory for both parties.

2) Failure to qualify as civilised resulting in both nations being wiping off the map the second either of the parties ceased to qualify as civilised.

This is no different from setting up two duellers with weapons facing each other, holding their families hostage and telling them loudly and clearly that if either of them even discharge their weapons they and their enemy and both sets of families will be executed.

Remember leaders in recent history never commit suicide themselves, they send others to do this, leaders never even go into battle anymore (except military ones).

The leaders in this case would be faced, perhaps for the first time, with the imminent possibility of THEIR OWN DEATHS, not just of the cannon fodder that they send to the front on their behalf.

The only problem with this solution is that it could be called an escalation of weapons in the theatre and certainly taking the wider view there are enough nuclear weapons in the world already.

The other problem with this solution is that none of the current nuclear powers is likely to give Palestine a bomb, while Israel apparently claim to have their own already.

However Iran may be wanting to build nuclear weapons and perhaps they might secretly want to provide the self destruct button to Palestine, it could be seen to be an act of peace as MAD mutually assured destruction did stop direct war between the USA and the USSR. (I admit they faught by proxy)

So is this mad? yes in both senses of the word, it is mutually assured destruction MAD a concept that has been proven to bring peace at least directly between two enemies and also it is mad as in the other meaning, totally insane.

But personally I am fed up of hearing about this ongoing war.

It seems they cannot sort it out themselves.

Perhaps they need to be forced to confront the insanity of their situation.

Come on all you democrats, there is a simple choice, do you want peace or war, VOTE if you cannot vote in such a simple election how can you expect to select a competent trustworthy government for your nation.

Well I have been on political forums a while now and always took my voting seriously but I never seemed to vote the right way, if I voted one way half my friends called me a greedy capitalist pig and if I voted the other way the other half of my friends called me a raving commie socialist idiot.

After a while it occurred to me that I can vote either :

1) for god queen and country

or for

2) the monster raving loony party

because both of these people / parties actually know that they are no better than me, they do not claim or even think they are my superiors they are just other humans doing their best to get through the day doing what they understand is their duty in a humble and decent way.

So that is actually how I vote.

And my vote is just as valid as any other adult human being in Great Britain

And on Middle East peace or war - I VOTE FOR PEACE

My father went a bit further then that: He married a European Catholic woman who's family was heavily involved in saving Jews from the Nazi terror during WWII.
I was educated by Muslims, Christians, Jews, Atheists and everything in-between.
