Party Venue suggestions please

Went to a fun little party upstairs at the Old Nuns Head in Nunhead a few weeks back - they had decks set up in there - the rooms a little dated but it was fun

See if you can reserve the whole of Cafe Cairo at Clapham North... (http://www.cafecairo.co.uk/). That would take 100 and it has a downstairs music room and (I think) a DJ setup.

They might not because Friday is one of their regular opening days and they might not want to displace their regulars.

Clapham isn't that easy to get to from Bromley.

Also just checked the Cafe Cairo website and you can only book it out from Mon-Weds.

Are you prefering something on the BS -> Victoria line eg Brixton or Herne Hill?

Clapham High St is just a couple of stops on the Overground from Peckham Rye (on that Thameslink line).

I guess that is fairly easy (and it's the way I went to get to the B&R when we met there), but I think it would put a number of my Bromley mates off.

My favourite venue at the moment is the room above the East Dulwich Tavern, but they are not answering their phone. I have sent them an email, but have no idea how long it will take for them to get back to me.

its a nice spot - ive been there for their comedy club. nicely decorated

The cafe on Peckham Rye is rentable and will do food and drink. They have a late licence if needed. I have done a couple of parties there - you need to sort your own sounds out but if the weather is good, it's a fantastic venue at night
that sounds lovely :) how much was the hire do you remember?

its was mates rates for the mrs. not spare room above pub type cheap iirc. i would pop in and have a chat with them. food is fecking great through. wandering pissed across athe rye at 3AM on a summer morning is worth the expense

I went to a party once at this theatre school in a railway arch near London Bridge, looks like they're booked for a class at lunchtime but free in the evening. You could get food delivered there (I got sushi and Ocado treats for a big party last year, which worked fine) or they might know a local caterer.

A mate used to be able to hire the basement of a bar/restaurant at the top of the High St, opposite the cinema? Reasonable enough it was for music/dancing...

Bromley - just looked and (whatever it turned into) it's closed down

(It's latest incarnation was called BR1 apparently)

I really am having difficulty deciding.

The Sylvan Post is great, no charge, but I don't get an exclusive area, have to mix it with the rest of the pub, which apparently get really busy on Fridays.

The Crows nest sounds good. No charge as long as we meet a minimum bar spend, which shouldn't be a problem. My main worry is that they have no draught beer at all, only bottles. I have not seen the place yet.

The Prince Regent charges, but you get a great space and a good bar.
