Participant needed for cultural research project

Alessio Taranto

New Member
Hello everyone,

My name is Alessio and I'm an undergraduate at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Maastricht university. I am currently writing a dissertation about Brixton and how the neighbourhood and its culture have changed in the last 20 years. For this purpose, I would like to interview about 20 people who are long-time residents and would like to share their views on the changes they have experienced while living in the area.

The research is veered on the West Indian culture that has characterized Brixton in the past. Therefore, I would like to ask if you could address me to businesses (pubs, bars, market stalls, concert venues, restaurants etc) or organisations (NGOs, cultural/community centres, charities etc...), which are staples of the Brixton community and reflect or wish to retain the West Indian cultural heritage of the neighbourhood. I thank you all very much for your eventual answers and help.

For any additional information on the research topics and/or to point me to possible interviewees/places, please feel free to message below or contact me at a.taranto@student.maastrichtuniversity.nl.

You could start by reading the Brixton forum. Many of the initial answers that you are looking for can be found there.

Thanks for the answer, I've found some discussions already on the forum, but I would like to have interviewees because they can offer more insight and i can code interviews more properly than forum comments. Moreover, I need to know who's answering is a long-time resident in Brixton. For these reasons, despite how insightful some of the threads in this forum have been, I cannot justify using them for my research because I don't have enough information on the ones who posted them. Anyways, thanks very much for taking the time to help me!
