One day in the Lake District, what would you do?

ChrisFilter

Like a boss.
No Derrick Bird jokes, please.

Will probably be arriving early on Friday and leaving lunchtime on Sat. Staying in Kendal. Where to go, what to see? We have a car so can cover distances.

Thanks :)

Chris

Fuck off to Windermere, go to the bookshop there, then do my favourite walk - Orrest Head. Then walk down to the Sun pub for a few jars, before walking back to Windermere, eating something nice in one of the pubs/restaurants, before heading down to the lake for evening spliffage and a hipflask full of Drambuie, watching the sun go down

sorry - don't really know Kendal

Take a trip on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and then take a cruise on the lake.

Go to Scotland instead of a poor imitation with added tea rooms and overcrowding.

I'm already in Scotland, sat overlooking Loch Rannoch as I type.

In fact I took this from our balcony last night:

However it was a long drive up here so I thought I'd break the journey home in two by staying in the Lake District.

So ner

Booked in a nice B&B overlooking Windermere :)

In these circumstances your actions are forgiveable.

Although you should have got the sleeper train up there instead of driving.

Nice pic

and  re Windermere - hope you have a lovely time there :) You can get to the lake in a number of ways, but my fave is a small cobbly track that's opposite to the Orrest Head sign for the start of that walk.

Funnily enough I'm spending a day in Kendal next month. However that is already booked to spend getting ratted with some friends.
