Zongamin - Bongo Song
Huzzah, someone else mentions the Japanese genius that is Zongamin. I believe that track is only reall available on Annie's DJ Kicks album, but I can heartily recommend his eponymous album which is absolutely brilliant.

It's on the new Fabric mix by Spank Rock, though I haven't listened to it yet - I only bought it cos it has the Tangerine Dream track that you hear in THAT rude scene on the train in Risky Business

Orchestra Baobab - Pirates Choice. African grooves suit the sunshine and keeping the sabbbath holy with Krishna Das - Pilgrim Heart.

The Mighty Wah! - Songs Of Strength & Heartbreak

it's mostly comfort music really -
starts missing/getting nostaligic for Peel, Andy Griff (giraffe) and black cat bone.

Grant Lee Phillips 'Nineteeneighties' (Collection of Country tinged Folk covers of 80s indie classics - perfect for the morning after the night before  )

Griff's still there, still talking about Dexy's making the best record ever.

 :)

it was his fault I bought that bloody Wylie album ;)

I pop back and lurk ocassionally usually end up quickly rembering why I drifted away or wondering what I ever saw in it.

now playing: the very best of dexys - had to be done.

Because Of You is fucking terrible.

The Bandits - self titled

Scott Walker ~ Always Coming Back To You

Cat Stevens ~ I've Found A Love

The Tornados ~ Red Roses And A Sky Of Blue

Kraftwerk ~ Ananas Symphonie

:)

Just been browsing through Kasabian, Empire. No doubt this is laughable, but I only heard of them last week, and find out the've just won an NME award and are chummy with the Gallagher boy.

Bit isolated here.
I'm playing them now. Empire arrived off Ebay today. I only brought it 'cause it was cheap and they are headlining the Isle of Skye festival that I'm off to next month. I hadn't heard their stuff before.

They're not unpleasant but not particularly inspiring either. Middle of the road music for people who can't decide whether they want to listen to dance, indie or rock. :)

I'm putting John Denver back on now.

last night/this morning:
Ska riffs

today: best of ska box all 3cds
now:Jonny Greenwood Is The Controller (downloaded)

You guys heard the new Meteors yet? I've not played it, but I should (it's on the "to listen list"...

NP:

Athletic Mic League - Sweats & Kicks

One of the most slept-on underground records around. For shame.

Yeah, its not very good.
Totally agree with AML shout, then you knew that anyway.

NP:
Hilltop Hoods -The Hard Road

Voodoo Dogs - same
Eels - Beautiful Freak
Lost In Translation soundtrack
Tangerine Dream - the Madcap's Flaming Duty
dedicated to Syd, don't hear any musical, lyrical refernces so far, it's all gone abit sub-gilmour floydian though..

first five tracks only as I really should get some sleep, and maybe actually get up at a vaguely sensible time

After days of playing clicky minimalism, I woke up this morning in the mood for some African sounds... Femi Kuti, Cheikh Lo, Ali Farka Toure, Tony Allen, Tinariwen etc. Very summery. I need to be at a festival now.
