# On The CD Player Today (take 6)

Julian Cope - Barrowlands 1995

Recently discovered in Cope's archives (ie he's skint but hasn't come up with an new album's worth of material yet) a soundboard recording from the man at his peak, with his finest band backing. Three hours are cut down to 69 minutes, so no between song banter, but still an excellent document of the time.

Henryk Gorecki - Symphony No. 3 sung by Beth Gibbons.

Pretty good version, although I think Colin Stetson's version is better.

Westkust - Last Forever
Matmos - Plastic Anniversary

The latter is definitely a grower. I don't think it'll be top of my AOTY list, but it'll put in a good showing.

Soccer Mommy - Clean
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray
Robyn - Honey
Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville

Chain-listening to Low - Double Negative while I work from home, because it's brilliant (and because it fills my headphones so I can't hear the sound of Fortnite :D )

Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives

I hadn't listened to any of his stuff for ages for some reason. It still sounds very fresh, nearly 20 years on.
