Lysistrata - The thread
Siskiyou - Siskiyou
Do make say think - You you're a history in rust

eta the Lysistrata record is pretty good musically, but the lyrics and singing are awful. It's becoming my pet hate.

Underground Resistance - Interstellar Fugitives

Can someone recommend me another Detroit techno album rated as a classic, please? I can't decide whether I like this or just think it's OK. I know there's a whole thread on it, but I'd probably get lost amongst the experts.

Robert Hood - minimal nation

TBH Interstellar Fugitives isn't a particularly good album. UR did loads of stuff that's far better than that... Try the Galaxy 2 Galaxy double pack

That's a tricky question. Detroit techno has been around for 33 years and in that time it's covered all manner of styles, from near ambient to freight train pounding techno; from very accesible to impenetrable abstraction; all within its basic format and sound. It's Inner City - Big Fun and Jeff Mills at his most out there.

Two others to try:

Kenny Larkin - Metaphor: if I absolutely had to pick a favourite album there's a good chance I'd go for this. It came out on Warp records in 1995, which might give a clue to the sound, and is not a straight up dancefloor record.

The Martian - LBH-6251876 (A Red Planet Compilation): comp of releases on Red Planet records, all of which are classics and cover a variety of styles.

I tried that Robert Hood album you recommended. I wasn't blown away on the first listen, if I'm honest, although its relative subtlety may reward further listens.

Following that, I've gone for a bit of breakcore, which has always lit my flame from when I first heard it.

Atomhead - Spiral Field Velocity 2.0

Sonic Youth - Daydream nation
Kelly Moran - Helix. A single off her new album. Genuinely excited.
