# On The CD Player Today (take 6)

Dmitry Evgrafov - Compression of light. Listened to this all over xmas. A beautiful piece of work.
Mario Batkovic - Mario Batkovic. I would love a Stetson/Neufeld/ Batkovic record.

Thanks for recommending the Compression of Light album. I was looking for something Stars of the Lid/A Winged Victory for the Sullen'ish, and this is great so far.

Confession time: There's a Massive phone typo in my post It's meant to be comprehension of light...apols.

It was my album of the year last year, glad you’re liking it!

Spiritualized Live at the Royal Albert Hall.

Annoyingly I've lost CD1 which has most of the best stuff on it :(

Venera 4 - Eidôlon

I have to ration myself on this album, it's that good. Nearly four years on from its release, it still grows on me each time.

Tricky - Maxinquaye

I find it odd that I've never been able to love this album, at least compared to what might be its peers, Blue Lines and Dummy. I came to all three very late, maybe around 2000 (blame my age).

Baby Bird - The Greatest Hits (actually a compilation of songs from the lo-fi recordings).

Off to see them in May, first time in a looooong time, but I used to be mad for them. Missed his pre-Xmas gig due to prior commitments.
You going stavros ?

I'm not, no, although it'd be good. His back catalogue is huge, and I've always said how sad it is that such a good songwriter is doomed to be remembered by many for a novelty hit. Then again, song titles such as Failed Suicide Club were unlikely to top the charts.

The Fall - Grotesque (After the Gramme)

I'm slowly working my way through their back catalogue posthumously, although not necessarily in chronological order.

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine - 1992 The Love Album
Brian Eno - Apollo

Apparently, the Carter album made it to number one in the UK. I was too young for them at the time, but were they really ever that popular?

Yeah they were, even made to top of the pops with the only living boy in new cross. Of course fruitbat knocking over Philip schofield massively helped too. History has proven them right on that too. I was never a fan but lots of kids in my school were...in rural Ireland. So pretty popular.

The made some great pop songs. Musically, they'd have fitted ideally into TOTP. In a fairer world, they might have had a novelty hit, much like;

Baby Bird - Fatherhood
