Olympic and Paralympics GB athletes team parade - Monday, 10 September

and why haven't they given Ellie Simmonds and other short people and people in wheelchairs some boxes so they can be higher up?

Either safety concerns or somebody just didn't think. As per usual.

Ellie Simmonds is almost eye level to the scaffold bar on the truck which is probably why she was sitting down. Probably better view :D

However, I just did see Nicola Adams and apparently she's standing on a box. Didn't think she was that short :hmm::D

A lot of the wheelchair athletes' faces are also blocked off by scaffold tubes :(

In other words, somebody just didn't think. A couple of inches either way would have made all the difference.

yep. Funnily enough, when I went to bd last night I was wondering about it. (These things keep me awake you know).

They've had 7 years to think about it :D

Although you could also say that the shorter people get nearer to the crowds and therefore a better view :hmm::D

7 years to fail to realise something which would have occurred to anyone 5'0" or under in less than 5 seconds.

Fantastic crowds at Trafalgar Square, although as they can't go down the Mall, probably just makes it seem busier :hmm:

Pretty sure I saw them practicing this on Thursday, out the window of my Bristol-Paddington train, somewhere between Swindon and Reading. 7 red arrows, in a V, flying low, across the train. Was pretty cool :)

Athletes looked well bored listening to Pet Shop Boys

Most of them will have no memories of the Pet Shop Boys. West End Girls made the charts here in early 1986 - 26 years ago. There's probably only Chris Hoy and some of the archers and equestrians who are old enough to remember them the first time round

I bet you the older ones weren't fans either :D

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even standing in the same spot for 4 hours was made enjoyable by the great friendly crowd. The cheers as the floats came past were deafening, and it was great to see the athletes really joining in, shaking hands, waving and in a couple of cases even letting the crowd touch their medals. And the atmosphere in Trafalgar Square after the parade had passed was amazing. The sight of hundreds of Games Makers stood on the steps up to the National Gallery Mo-bot-ing and Usain-ing while the crowd cheered and applauded to show their appreciation for the volunteers will be one of my best memories of the Games.
