Anyone know where I could find out more about this? Over Xmas & NY some mates who've just moved to E.Dulwich and us went a-wandering around the woods/forest thing and saw the old railway tunnel there...I assume there used to be a line running from Crystal Palace...would be interested to find an old map with it on...

Ed - yeah, it's blocked off and used as a storage area for London Wildlife Trust...really lovely walk tho...must do it during the day rather that 3 in the morning one time tho...

Wow!

Hey I'm sure this used to be open & not blocked off..
I used to go to school at Kingsdale, not to far from the woods,.
I've been through that tunnel a couple of times as a kid in the 80's, I'm sure the other end came out at Crystal palace park...

ahha yes.. the Paxton tunnel...

Theres a myriad of related ruins on the hill up to Dulwich if you creep thro the undergrowth - great fun in teh winte

You can follow theremains of the line along the bottom of the Horninam museum, where its a nature walk/ reserve

maybe unconnected, but Pissaro painted Lordship lane station :

The old C Palace High Level. Would have been a nice ride up from Nunhead. Quite an ornate station.

I seem to recall someone on the Robert Elms show talking about sneaking into those tunnels at some point in the past and finding they were full of stored statues or something..... can't quite remember the whole story though.

waiting for a train that will never come :(

Curiois that now work is about to begin on the tram link that will pretty much follow the same route from CP Lower Level up to CP Parade, albeit above ground, before branching off along the Parade towards Forest Hill.
