Old abandoned hotel ID

Hey up, i'm looking for a little bit of help here please. I'm trying to ID a building that i did a bit of work in the 80's ( i think it was closed then ). From my limited memory all i can recall is this: fucking huge hotel /hostel in Bermondsey/ Southwark, really well known at that time, i remember reading a story in the Evening Standard that there were plans to turn it into a " super" hotel.
I know its not a lot to go on but any info would be really appreciated.
