New to me

Apols if there is a thread for this already.

Who have you got into lately, despite being aware of them for years?

For me, it’s currently Bauhaus.
They’re Fucking great. Not everything but their overall aesthetic.

Bauhaus are fabulous. As you say occasionally overblown but they’ve aged much better than some of their peers.

I’ve posted about this before but for me it’s The Chameleons. I’ve known about them for years, but until recently was ignorant to just how amazing they are.

I've also mentioned here recently, but I saw Broadcast a couple of times and have a couple of their earlier EPs. I think the second time we saw them they just didn't click or maybe it was me that was in a funny mood, but they just dropped off my radar after.

Feel like a bit of a twat now. They were absolute genius. Trish Keenan had an amazing voice and they were really looking to take the band in interesting directions before her untimely death. The Joe Meek/unsettling 70s British childrens telly stuff stuff was great.

my undergraduate band covered a few bauhaus songs.
possible to play for an amateur drummer such as myself.
There's a great Jamie Stewart anecdote about how one of their first times performing live, possibly their first ever time, was playing at a party where they tried to play Bela Lugosi's Dead but had only learned the first verse, so they kept playing that over again until some older goth kids got up and took their instruments off them and played the song properly. Quite impressive to go on to a full career in music from that start.

Think for me Mitski and The National have been relatively recentish big ones.
