Yep, and it has serious backing from KLM

KLM to fund the design of radical new “Flying-V” aircraft

You sit in the wings so those at the front will get a really nice view.
It's obviously still a concept design, but airlines are fighting for every little bit of fuel saving they can get, so you never know.

Sweet looker, isn't it?

Doesn't make much sense from an aero perspective to have the engines out on nacelles there, although I guess it matters less if the shapes to go for efficiency and not to fly supersonic.

If they can actually come up with a 20% saving the thing is likely to sell like hot cakes if it ever goes into production - and it's a thing of beauty.
Strange designs have worked before so it isn't too far outside reality to accept other might well in the future

I'm sure it's low speed handling will make it very easy to land indeed....

Who do they want to fly it - former F-104 pilots who are looking for something a bit more exciting?

The A350, which is a relatively conservative design, cost 10bn quid to develop and that was at Airbus who have massive economies of scale. You could easily double or triple that figure for this thing so it's never happening.
