Museum of Neoliberalism

There's usually an urban thread! Not the most obvious thing you would expect to see in passing!

Anyone been?

Like you, I've seen it, but never been.

There was a recent Urban75 meet-up that went there: https://www.urban75.net/forums/thre...ralism-museums-park-pub.384815/#post-18624848

closing on 15 september so get a move on if you want to visit...

(it's not quite clear whether sunday 15th is the last day it's open or the first day it's closed...)

(and looks like the margate move he was talking about has fallen through - :( )

it's not a big place - they take bookings in 15 minute chunks, we booked two consecutive slots as there could have been about 10 of us. in the end, think there were about 6 of us, and think we were done in 20 minutes or so.

if you're not all that local, then may be worth combining with a visit to the migration museum in lewisham (which was unexpectedly closed on the urban day out) which is re-opening on 12 september

and this saturday (14 september) there's a few historic buses on route 261 lewisham - lee green - grove park - bromley

A shame. Hope it reopens somewhere. Kicking myself for not going when in London earlier this year - should have made the effort but it’s location being off the beaten track made it too tricky

Oh crap, sorry to hear the Margate move isn't going ahead - it would have been quite a good location as an alternative to London, what with the crab museum and other attractions being there.

:(

you missed a chance to see britain's worst shopping centre

(it's been under planning blight for 10 years or more - i get the impression the owners have let it get worse and worse in the hope lewisham council will finally give up saying no to their planning applications)
Yes, its in a sad old state :(

Shame that I may have missed the museum, was already trying to fit as much in this weekend just gone. Hope it can live again somewhere.

They are staying open on 26-28 Sept witha closing party on 28th.

Due to high demand I'm going to open the Museum of Neoliberalism for three final days this week before I'm finally kicked out of my studio, ending with a closing party on Saturday night.

Museum open this week Thurs-Sat, 26th-28th Sept. 11am-7pm
Party on Saturday from 8.30pm til late. All welcome. BYOB.

Also on Saturday from 7-8.30 is a small event where I'll be interviewing Ralph Billington, a local 88 year-old self-described revolutionary socialist, and artist, and showing an exhibition of his artwork. The exhibition of his work should also be up on Friday.

Spaces for the Audience with Ralph are limited due to seating capacity. Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/an-audience-with-ralph-museum-of-neoliberalism-closing-event-tickets-1025005919297
But it will also be recorded if you can't make that. After the panel I'll get Ralph home and then we'll have a party. No ticket required to come to the party or to visit the museum 11am-7pm Thurs-Sat.
