Muddiest Festival

Not the festival as such, but the location of the car-park & ride facility ...

Festival No.6 flood plain car park decision defended - BBC News

I'm surprised that this had not occurred in previous years - on a flood plain, in a period with spells of heavy rain and more forecast ...
I took a couple of shots from the bypass (built on an embankment)

In the old days, usually in the evenings, strangers used to give you their one day travel cards at the station as they were heading home.
My (at the time) girlfriend was playing on the last night so we only went up for the last day/night but met some lovely people while setting up who were buggering off early - so we hermit crabbed their huge tent, and supplies of beer and snacks. Because of the nature of the main site it was a piece of piss to get around. We got the train so didn't have to deal with the worst aspects though. All in all a pretty good festival.

Actually I seem to recall I lost my brand new phone in a really muddy bit so maybe I'm repressing some memories.

I remember this SGP, a real bog when everyone arrived on Thursday which then started to dry and turned into some superglue like mud by Friday morning. Happily it dried out and hardened so much so you could sit down on it by Saturday afternoon, if i recall.

I worked build crew on this one, and by the end of the build I was just at one with the mud, and my mate and his other half turned up, we all got absolutely fucked and me and my mate just kept shoving each other over in the mud, and his other half just spent the weekend glaring at me with fury that I'd done this and their tent was just covered in mud inside (I had a campervan so could de-robe outside)
