Moronic developments in men's multipack socks

surely A makes them easier to match?

B pisses me off though.

But can't you just buy plain ones? Besides socks only need matched by thickness...

I keep promising myself that one day I'm going to throw out all my socks, then go buy a draw full of identical pairs so I never have to worry about this ever again.

I never do though :(

I currently wear 3 very thin pairs of socks and I wear the colours I didn't want under the handful of the grey I did want.
Needless to say it's the grey ones that are wearing out first. :(

I just wear any two similar sock that come out of the drawer, and to hell with good intentions.

If you're wearing three pairs of socks. You might need better fitting shoes

I've tried both having all black socks, and having easily identifiable patterned socks, and much prefer the latter. Also, any odd socks get shoved into a bag at the back of the wardrobe, which is sorted through every few months - magically pairs will appear.

Try having two sons with a different shoe size, so not only do you have to try and get two socks with the same coloured toe, you also have to make sure they are the same size. Their sock drawers are awash with odd socks, with three or four forlorn pairs.

I like having the multicoloured socks, it pleases my ocd. The problem with all having the same colour is that some go grey faster than the others and don't match.

Traditional footwraps could be an answer:

I just buy grey ones, saves on the white ones going grey and black ones fading problem

It gives the lie to the myth that we can have exactly what we want.
I can get any electronic component I want, stuff sent all the way from China in a few days with a few mouse-clicks.
But not the actual socks and pants I want.
At least I can get my pants white and dye them black.
Though I feel very self-conscious buying white pants.

Perhaps the male of the species is expected to have poor taste.

I'm dreading the day my particular style of pants I've worn since my teens finally goes out of production - I already have to buy white ones and dye them to get them how I like.

Oh, I did that. It was a blissful period in my life. For several months every sock was the same. Now several birthday's and Christmases on, with plenty of thoughtful presents behind me the system has gone to pot.

Socks are serious business

I have done the sock clear out (best dusters ever) before but ranges are changed and such. Would rather have a single pair of Kevlar infused bastards that were serviceable

I hope you don't mind me saying but you talk about your undergarments too much!

:)

(a) why do they do multipacks with different colour coded heels/toes
Unless you're buying these socks to wear with open toed sandals - in which case I've got no sympathy for you :D - why does it matter a fart if you wear one sock with a green heel or toe and one sock with a blue heel or toe?

I'm guessing that sock fabric might not dye consistently ?
The last batch of white cotton pants I dyed ended up with apricot-coloured elastic.
