Jordan Walker-Brown, who before the incident enjoyed playing football and was in good health and active, is now paraplegic. He believes he would not have been stopped had he not been black.

The Metropolitan Police have now admitted liability after being sued by Jordan Walker-Brown who was left paralysed from the chest down after breaking his back when he fell backwards over a fence after being Tasered by PC Imran Mahmood in May 2020. In the claim for damages for assault and breach of human rights, liability is admitted, but there is dispute over the quantum of damages, which will be a seven figure sum:

I tuned into Linda Tirados work shortly after she lost her eye in the George Floyd protests and her acerbic wit was a beacon of sanity during the pandemic.

I've just found out she's in hospice care due to damage from the rubber bullet that hit her in the eye.

Theres a funding page for the care if you feel the need to help out.

Daniel Auderer - who was responding to the incident - was recorded laughing and saying that she was a "regular person" and the city should "just write a cheque".

The footage was captured on his body camera while he had made a call to a colleague.
"But she is dead," the officer was heard saying before laughing. "No, it's a regular person. Yeah, just write a cheque," he said, before laughing again.
"Eleven thousand dollars. She was 26, anyway. She had limited value," he added.

I'd read about this case last week, the report said that the born-worn camera video would be released on Monday.

It was much worse that I had imagined. What the actual fuck was that monster doing? :( :(

makes me wonder what goes inside police stations if they have the audacity to behave like hooligans outside..
Wonder no more…

One of the five former Memphis police officers seen lynching Tyre Nichols on a horrifying video has pleaded guilty to charges of using excessive force and obstruction of justice.

Desmond Mills Jr. entered his guilty pleas during a hearing at the Memphis federal courthouse on 2 November 2023 as part of a larger agreement to cooperate in the case against four other officers.

Desmond Mills Jr. pleaded guilty to federal charges of excessive force and obstruction of justice and agreed to plead guilty to related state charges.

Tyre Nichols: Ex-police officer pleads guilty in deal with prosecutors

Federal prosecutors recommended a 40-year sentence for former Memphis Police Officer Emmitt Martin III who is the second former officer to plead guilty in relation to the January 2023 lynching of Tyre Nichols. Three former officers still face trial in federal court in September 2024, and two of their former colleagues could testify against them.

Emmitt Martin III pleaded guilty to two of four federal counts against him - one for depriving Tyre Nichols’ civil rights and another for witness tampering - according to his plea agreement filed in a US district court in the state of Tennessee on 23 August 2024. His sentencing has been set for 5 December 2024:

Newly released police body camera footage shows The Late Sonya Massey interacting with police officers 16 hours before she was shot dead in her own home on 6 July 2024, when deputies responded to her emergency call of a suspected prowler.

In the course of the video, which is about 45 minutes long in its entirety, a distressed Sonya is seen the day before Sean Grayson, the now-former Sangamon County deputy, shot her.

That encounter happened after Sonya's mother Donna called 911 to report that her daughter was having a mental health episode. In the video, Sonya appeared to be troubled about the utilities being turned off at her home.

At one point in the video, Sonya told officers she had been taking her medicine.

When Donna Massey called 911 on 5 July 2024, she pleaded with the law enforcement not to hurt Sonya:
