minor actors with major talent!

WATCH OUT, GEORGE, HE'S GOT A SCREWDRIVER!
horrible feeling this is a duplicate thread, but the only similar one i could think of is dirty martini's supporting actors whose names you can't remember...

anyway, was thinking about frank harper - sure he was a bit throwaway thug scary in 'lock, stock' and 'south west nine' ( :shudders: ), but even there he had an edge.

and he's great working with shane meadows - '24:7' and 'romeo brass' really brought him out

somebody give frank a proper meaty role!

any other in-the-background actors you think deserve a big break?

Good call. Ironically (re Romeo Brass ) I thought Paddy Consendine was sensational and am pleased to see that he is now an established and highly thought of thesp.

The 2 young girls in 'In America' were the best non-established actors I've seen for years mind.

Eddie Marsan always gives good value. Superb in 21 grams and gangster no 1.

Does Luiz Guzman count? Never seen him give a bad performance.

isn't that gollum on the left? He needs to stop doing interviews about that part - I don't like it when he does the voice on camera.....

david morrissey's had a fair few decent roles as bent/compromised filth over the years ('framed', 'between the lines' etc), he's excellent for concealing his 'real' motives

My thoughts as well - Guzman has been great in everything from The Bone Collector (terrible film) to The Count of Monte Cristo and Punch-Drunk Love.

here's a couple: illeana douglas, so great in 'action!' and that tvm 'weapons of mass distraction', a real gift for dark humour, yet under-utilised at every turn; and lorraine bracco - scored a decent role in 'goodfellas' on the back of stuff like 'dream team', yet apart from 'the sopranos' rarely registers on our radar...

Huggy Weaver - so obscure I cant even find a picture of him.

However, here are some of his notable appearances

Hansom Cab Driver - league of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Paul - Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Bouncer - Boston Kickout
Prisoner - Judge Dredd
Mark Byrne - The Young Americans

And if you *still* don't know know who I mean, he currently pops up every now and again as Uncle Clint Miller in Eastenders (the guy with the ice cream van)

He's ace!

i always like to see Michael ironside fill the big screen, usually as a support...

total recall, starship troopers from memory (i'd have to consult imdb for more roles) and i think he was in V...

I can't believe you mentioned that shite. Shame on you. :D

I enjoyed Highlander II, although it was a bit of a confused movie. The ozone layer depletes, the world is saved by some lazer shield that swallows most of the worlds fossil fuels to keep going, and years later the controlling and sinister shield corporation knows from scientists that the ozone layer has repaired itself but keeps it secret to keep in power. And then it is all about the Highlanders coming from another planet centuries ago, and blaaaa blaaa blaaaa.

Only worth mentioning for when Ironside's character picks a man up by his balls, crushes them and then throws him out of a window. :D Tidy.

I don't know any of their names (apart from joley richardson), but all the acting in "Nip Tuck" is quality. The writing is class too. :)
