Mascara

I hate eyelash curlers, evil things.

The manual ones look like some kind of form of medieval torture! I had an electric one that heated up and was really good, then it broke :( don't know where to get another one - in fact I'm not sure where I got that one from, think it was a present).

I have tried the manual ones (didn't know there were heated ones) a few times over the years and I always found I could do one eye fine but the other eyelashes either wouldn't curl properly or I would pinch a bit of eyelid in it or pull some eyelashes out :( Fuck that man :D

God that really fucking hurts doesn't it?

Well I tried to buy some of the l'oreal stuff in Tesco today (£3 off) but it fell through the gaps in the shopping trolley before I got to the checkout  I shall be scouring the local paper for the story of the woman who is suing tesco when she slipped on it in the dairy aisle

You can buy eyelash curlers in Boots, I think, but having had the nipped eyelid experience I won't be bothering!

I love my eyelash curler. Although once I did rip out the lashes from half my eyelid one morning when I was in a hurry.

Right is there any that actually really and genuinely help your lashes grow?

Got some eyelash extensions that I loved but then after a couple of weeks when I needed the infills the lady was sick so I went to a different place and she was like a crazy glue lady and am now missing quite a few lashes! Gutted as I already had really nice thick, long lashes but when I saw my sisters extensions I went & copied like the sad copy cat I am! Don't want to have em done again as might make it all worse.

Have left them for a few weeks, been putting vaseline on them (tip off the net) as thats meant to help but day to day they don't look good. So are there any mascaras that really & truly help your lashes to grow???

I don't know if that's possible, because mascara only coats what is there so it can't physically extend anything iyswim, but it can give the impression of doing it by curling your lashes and covering them to the tip.

For length I rate that new 4D one, but see what a couple other people come back and say after trying it :)

I want to find a waterproof mascara that is actually waterproof

Let me know how you get on diddly - I will need new mascara soon

I always use to use Rimmell waterproof when I had to swim at work and it was great other than the fact it was a bugger to get off again :(

Ok. Another question.

Coz I have blonde (white) eyelashes, I always get a line of white at the base of the lashes or mascara on the lid.
Is there anything I can do that does not involve wearing eyeliner everyday as that's not practical for work?

No but you can buy a serum which you coat the lashes with. I don't know if it ACTUALLY works as I haven't used it myself (it's 40 quid :D)

Also if you're having eyelash extensions they can make your lashes weaker, and they'll fall out, also have to make sure you soak soak soak if you wear eyelash extensions or false lashes as this can rip them out too!

I love the L'oreal collagen mascara but not tried that 4d one yet. I seem to like most things with collagen in actually :hmm:

Get them dyed?

£40! Christ! But I do hate my poor skinny (only think on me that is!) lashes atm! Do you know what it's called? Or where they stock it?

Thats what I thought but vaguely remember seeing a rimmel tv ad saying it makes your lashes grow longer & thicker? Mind you did buy that Mascara but it did naff all, just hoped someone else might know of a miracle mascara that would make mine back to normal! Also now have a wonky eyelash where the good lady told me that the stand in woman that I saw, had glued a few of my lashes & clearly this one sideways!:( Damn my sibling envy!

Get them dyed?

Yeah I'd say this would be your best bet and then just top up with mascara for new lashes that come through.

Is the L'oreal 4d the one in the kind of triangular tube thats silver???

I think they're using a bit of artistic license when they say "grow" kind of like eyelash curlers make your lashes grow ;) yep, silver tube is the one.

I used the avon one over the weekend again, and not sure it's top of my list now... one eye got very itchy and a few lashes stuck together, like they do in that triangle way :hmm:

I quite liked mac zoom lashes (or something- def had zoom in the name) but it was a bit smudgy (i rub my eyes).

Now on a free clinique sample which seems good, and non-smudgy, so far.

Get them dyed?

I used to dye them myself but can't be arsed anymore. Used to buy the beauty salon stuff from Sally supplies, it's much cheaper and lasts alot longer than the measly amount that you would get in Boots.

I use Clinique naturally glossy mascara as a base coat - all it does is colour your lashes, nothing more, then some great lash or similar lash building stuff on the ends. That way they don't look clogged (or as a friend terms it, 'fly swat eyes')

As there are loads of mascara recommendation threads I’m bumping one rather than creating another. ;)

Any recommendations for water soluble (ie not waterproof/will wash off easily) mascara that a) does actually come off with one wash with face soap, and b) isn’t clumpy? It’s fine if the effect is subtle - I just want to darken them rather than build them up.

Maybelline Sky High was meant to meet my basic criteria but does not

Might do what my 8 year old did the other day, which was use a felt tip pen :hmm::D

Chanel Inimitable is my go-to for this. No need for eye make up remover, it just washes off when I wash my face in the shower at night. It's also not clumpy, comes in brown if you want something more subtle, and can withstand a very quick cry.
