Mascara

Been a couple of years since the last thread... what are you wearing now? Still the same old trusty mascara? What's your fancy one for special occasions?

Opened a new bottle of maybelline (pink and green one) and it's really clumpy compared to the last one, so after recommendations for something that isn't clumpy.

:)

(pogofish - people change what they buy and new products come out, so yes I have searched and read other threads, but they're out of date!)

Currently No 17 Maximum Volume which I've had for a while and rather like. Goes on easily, lasts quite a while, isn't clumpy and does volumise quite well.

Rimmel is my default make up choice as it falls between not so cheap that it is shit but not so expensive I only dare wear it ocassionally :oops:

I've always like Maybelline. Its my mascara of choice at the moment. I hate clumpy ones though - never suffered it with any of the Maybelline ones!

I'm a bourgois volume clubbing fan. It can be clumpy though and quite heavy which I know some people wouldn't wear for everyday but I loves it!

I'm wearing a bare escentuals one which I got in a kit months ago, has a nice full brush and isn't the least bit clumpy. Bought a curling one the other day which is a bit heavy for everyday wear. Meh.
What I really want is a Revlon comourstay one which stays on for a couple of days without much smudging. Am lazy.

I have the Chanel Exceptionnel, it's good, I like the brush. I also like that it's smudge-proof rather than waterproof as I'm lazy and like my make-up to come off in the shower.

Avon, it's certainly no worse than those ones that cost more than a tenner....I normally get a fairly decent liquid eyeliner from somewhere else to make up for it (no pun intended).

This is normally my mascara of choice. I'm currently using Benefit Bad Girl mascara (it was a pressie - I never spend that much on make up ), but it is really really good. lasts for ages, really nice effect, not too clumpy.

I use bad gal for a few years, but comes start to look too thick on me so stopped. I might have to brave a dept store and have a look at a few - do they do mascara testers? :hmm:

Some Rimmel thingy. It seems ok. I'm not much of a mascara connoiseur tbh
Rimmel is my default choice for most make-up really.

I got the new L'oreal 4D one, is pretty good, tbh I only bought it because the TV ad didn't have any of those, shot with lash inserts/post production lines. other than that the Dior mascaras are good and if you want a false eyelash look go for too faced lash injection, buy the smaller tube though if you are gonna get that cus it tends to go dry pretty quickly

I love mascara. Luckily people have cottoned on and gift it to me.

I'm mainly wearing Diorshow Iconic. Can build it up nicely. Sometimes lancome hypnose which is also nicely build up able but it goes on quite wet and drops my curl. When it's raining or I'm pre menstrual I use max factor waterproof false lash effect.

Not sure if I'm after a false eyelash look, I just want the lashes to stay separate and look accentuated if that makes sense (I don't really know much about make up ). Quick google and the L'oreal one looks like it's worth a go :)

cheers, will try the L'oreal one first

I used to use one of theirs but I think they stopped doing it...........now use a Clinique one which stays put but doesn't do much for length or volume.

I was looking for the link to that great animation PandaPandaPanda to demonstrate what I look like with non-waterproof, smudgeproof, everythingproof mascara then remembered it was BadgerBadgerBadger..............:oops:

:D :D

I'm currently on the annoyingly named Volum' Express Turbo Boost  by Maybelline. It's ok, but then I don't mind a clump or two to boost my pathetic lashes.

I got out my waterproof max factor fake lashes one over the weekend (rain) and I don't recommend it. It is shit.

I try and avoid any one that says volumising or lengthening cos it's just gloopy and clumpy and I have quite long lashes anyway and I'm shit at doing eye makeup. I go for simple ones, like Boots No 7 black mascara :D

I want to find a waterproof mascara that is actually waterproof

Let me know how you get on diddly - I will need new mascara soon

ok, I bought two new mascaras :)o) and have a couple of others anyway :D

Clinique Lash Power (got this on holiday last year)... it's a bit odd, you can take it off just using warm water because it form tubes around your lashes, so not best for waterproof. Still seem to make lashes stick together slightly. Made my eyes itch slightly. It's ok, would use it day-to-day, but would want something different for a night out I reckon - no prizes from me.

L'oreal 4D... wow, really does make your lashes look extra long (and you know I have long black lashes anyway!) - wore it all of Saturday, rainy day in the park then out to the pub in the evening, didn't seem to smudge that I'd noticed. It didn't quite separate the lashes as much as I wanted, but was quite close. It did hold them curled if that makes sense?

Avon superfull - not sure why this one is called superfull, but I like it - it seemed to cover every lash and not let em stick together, not quite the length of the 4D, but that's not a bad thing for me. In the lead so far.

Next one to try (again) - Maybelline define-a-lash mascara, not worn that for a good few months.

Ooh thank you, that's a very detailed assessment. I shall give the L'Oreal one a go - I think I have a No7 one at the moment which is alright but nothing special

I use YSL and despite having used it years and years I have no idea what it's called. The shade is 04 violet and it says something about giving a fake lash look I think. It's really good though and that's why I don't change brands.

So mascara heads, what is your technique for putting the mascara on so you look like you have long lashes? I like mascara but I'm rubbish at make up.
