Mapp and Lucia.

I love M&L. Actually went to Rye for a weekend soon after watching the show, the town is just like EF Benson described it, with two factions and lots of gossip. Climbed up on the church tower like Mapp and stayed at the Radcliffe Hall Suite at Jeakes House Hotel on Mermaid Lane.

The books are amazing too.

I love Mapp and Lucia. The books are wonderful - the subtleness of it all.

And with the TV series the casting is great.

I used to love the original series, then they took it away!

I thought this is so cool and so camp, how can they take it off? Is it just me? Have I accidentally latched onto something which is crap?

One of my favourites was Quaint Irene...

Aww I loved the original series. Nigel Hawthorn was just brilliant as Georgie :)
Apparently they got permission from the national trust to film some of the new series at Lamb House...(Bensons home...and the inspiration for Mallards)
Looking forward to seeing this and all one can really say is bona fortuna a tutti...lol :)

Really?..I do hope it's good.... so sick of Downton and a lot of dross on telly recently.
He did really enjoy it although I think overall he thought the previous adaptation was better, however he really liked Anna Chancellor and Steve Pemberton, though he did prefer Nigel Hawthorne's interpretation.

He basically said there is a lot to enjoy in it and it's worth watching :)

Roll on Monday night....quai hai!

I agree, I'm disappointed too. A minor thing: the padre shouldn't have a Scottish accent. He should just have the affectation of using Scottish dialect words.

Don't like Georgie......:(
Lucia too laid back.....:(
Mapp.....so far:)

Agreed...and Miranda is acting like Prunella Scales...well...

It's growing on me

Great scenery and it is a beautiful place. .. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. The guru story wasn't in the last series afair...it's from the first set of books.

Overall, I do think it's good, but once you've seen the older series it's impossible not to make comparisons.

I'm rooting out the box set to watch again. .. :)

I didn't see the first series but love the books. So I wasn't entirely sure at first but it was brilliantly barbed. And Anna Chancellor/Miranda Richardson were fab

I never saw the original, and am quite enjoying this.

Loved the but where Lucia was Elizabeth I, and Miranda Richardson looked upset cos that used to be her role.
