"Lose Your Licence, and You're Just a Kid Again."

scifisam

feck! arse! girls! drink!
No you're bloody not! It is possible to be a non-driver and be a functioning adult.

The ad shows the man not getting work, not having friends, and living with his Mum, all because he can't drive.

I can't drive, so I guess that means I can't be a parent or teacher, either? In fact, it's amazing that I have the right to vote!

Stupid bloody advert.

That is all.

I'd be fucked without my car. Not sure what I'd do, probably have to move back to my parents and take some shit job.

yeh but loosing your license (as opposed to never having one) is a bit different because you get used to driving everywhere! :D

Also you're not a 19 year old boy last time I checked...;)

Ungrateful fucker :(

so, the 4x4 I bought for getting out of town for fishing and camping and stuff... you're saying you want me to drive it more regularly, in town and such Jefe??? ;) :p

That's one of the reasons i've never learned to drive, i don't want to lose the use of my legs. :p

Yeah, but still! It's too over the top, and well, it just annoys me. Not enough to wrte a decent bile-spitting rant, admittedly.

You checked? I wondered who that was down there ....

I'm not getting a car until I can have an Alfa Romeo, and I'm not getting an Alfa Romeo until I can have one that won't be a shambling shitheap. I may be some time.

I'm not getting a motor vehicle till I can have a big silver bus that we can tour the country in, plus a chauffeur. I may be even more time.

A mini would be nice too. The chauffeur hat might be hard to fit in, though, unless I get an especially short chauffer. Try saying those last three words quickly after a few beers!

its just another one of those irritating goverment ads to make you think they are doing something, like those benefit cheat ads.

'we're closing in'

'if we catch you'

'could face jail' of course, what with all those spare prison places sitting around

I hate it that I need a car. I loathe motorway driving. But all the other options are either impractical or more expensive.

(Driving is a skill I taught myself the basics of in an hour or two in a Reliant 3 wheeler one evening in 1984)

I reckon riding a pushbike is probably much more grownup - certainly more intelligent. I spend 215 hours a year doing that as opposed to maybe a tenth of that driving.

It isn't a stupid advert at all.
Drink drivers are c*nts.

Plenty of people need to drive to do their jobs.
Anyone who fits into that category and drink-drives, deserves to be sacked anyway as an idiot.

Some people do need to drive to do their jobs, but not everyone does, and that wasn't the message of the ad, anyway. The message was 'lose your licence and you're just a kid again.' I can see what zenie means about getting overly used to driving, but it's still stupid to say that people who can't drive are kids.

I haven't seen the ads but they sound patronising. I'm 26 and don't drive. I've pretty much always lived in cities and certainly didn't feel like a kid.

I saw one on the back of a bus, which is, to be fair, a good place to advertise to drivers, but is a bit ironic. "Lose your licence and you'll be just like the losers in this thing!" Very Thatcherite.
