Looking for hotel with conference room and facilities for about 30 odd people

How not flush are you? i.e. what kind of rate are you expecting to pay for the accommodation and also for the conference room?

You won't get anything particularly lovely for that price, even somewhere fairly mediocre like the Doubletree Islington will be £120ish per room per night...a lot more if your dates clash with a big event or Easter etc...

You do get far better value out of town, in places like Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and so on.

Canterbury is expensive on stays and I do not need anything lovely, we are busy presenting and debating all day and need beds to sleep in and confer for reasonable rates.
And below London is not an option any more.

Travelodge Kings Cross rooms average £110 per night, should give you an idea of central London rates.

Anywhere like Cantebury will be far, far better value, if south is no good, St Albans, Maidenhead, Brentwood and so on.
