London Pride 2013

Sheeple Awake!
I went with the children yesterday for the first time to the parade and our general conclusion is what a bunch of bores. I kept pretty quiet, asked the 8 year old for her opinion a few hours ago and she said pretty much what I was thinking, "would have been a lot more fun if some people had started something, it was too polite and the only good thing was we got loads of free presents" . I took a horn and every time I blew the thing could almost feel the tutts as various characters put their fingers in their ears. Not my idea of a party at all. The only people backing us up were the stewards FFS - and the wankers next to us were a bunch of uni students drinking pims from cans.

Maybe the party in the shoreditch field is good but it costs £25 AND AT THE END OF THE DAY I can pay that for a whole day rave in a field in east london and have change. AND i WOULD PROBABLY HAVE loads of people tut tutting that I had taken the children. Fuck it- will go to Carnival this year with full appreciation of what it offers.

Pride used to be good, but last year the Mayor refused all permits for floats - days before the parade, after people had already paid for the vehicles - so this year most people I know didn't even try to go. Shame your first time was after it had gone to shit.

There were a few semi-floats this year but not anything interesting. Open top buses were mostly about as far as it went. I did notice a fair number of SWP "Pride is a protest" signs being held by all sorts of people on the parade.

I have to say that there was a lot of loud whistle blowing and I didn't detect any tutting at kids - perhaps the OP ended up parked next to some wankers.

TBF, I don't think that you can call Pride cutting edge for many, many years

Pity, seem to have caught the very end of a wave then. TBH the tutts were more at me and my attempt to make a racket than the children. Just seemed ridiculously prim around me. I must have caught the short straw - maybe will go next year with some mates and a crate of cider and try to have a laugh. Based on yesterday though we would have probably had the people around us calling the police over.
