London 2012 - will you go and see anything?

surely trashpony's lad is up for the GB diving squad in 2012 :hmm:

Yes assuming I'm still living in the South East in 2012, which I probably will be - I will try and make it to several events, I don't care what.

Actually I'm definitely up for any number of football games, especially the women

Not 'Team GB' though, if that happens it can fuck off

i think i will, although i do love watching it on the telly, but assumming i'm still living in hackney in 4 years time, i will get down to the various stadia, watch some cycling, swimming, and athletics, maybe go for some of the less popular sports as well, archery, shooting, etc

So have you already won the lottery or are you banking on doing so before 2012?

I'm going to try to get to as many events as i can. Cycling's a must though for me. Road races, TTs, as many track events that i can get to, BMX and MTB's. Some athletics if possible. Hockey most probably as some of my friends will no doubt want to go. Gymnastics.

*starts saving now*

Probably loads for the Olympic Stadium on 100m final night.

Somewhat less for a day at the water polo I'd imagine
And the 100m is over in no time at all!

I want to see some obscure stuff, where the crowds won't be so big, so I can cheer on the underdog and actually make a difference :)

I'll go to some events but I bet that tix for the velodrome won't be easy or cheap to get, or for blue ribband events like the mens 100 meters final - which will probably all go to corporate fuckers and the media.

Does anyone know how we'll be able to obtain tix for any event? Will we be able to apply in advance, will there be a ballot, will those of us who have paid our London council tax to fund the damn thing be given priority and/or discounted tix? (as I think we should).

they should give the honest citizens of hackney free tickets:cool:

oh man i'm such an olympics geek, i registered to steward at the london 2012 three years ago. i'm assuming that means i'll be able to watch something for free.

I will rent my flat for some ridiculous price and use the money to fund being a spectator. I will camp in someones garden or something, it will be worth it.
Swimming, gymnastics, athletics are my faves. :)

You'll have to wait and see...

London 2012 website said:
7.7 million tickets will be available for the Olympic Games, with another 1.5m for the Paralympic Games.

Tickets for both events will go on sale from 2011 and, subject to availability, remain on sale until the start of every event.

Details of how to purchase tickets will be announced nearer the time.

We aim to give as many people as possible the chance to attend the Games – ensuring a great atmosphere for all the events.

To achieve this, our tickets will be priced fairly. London will aim to repeat the success of the Manchester Commonwealth Games, where 90 per cent of seats were sold.

Each ticket will also include free travel on public transport in London for the day of the event, to encourage spectators to use the transport system and take in the festivities throughout the city.

As well as this, there will be free events - including the Road Cycling, Triathlon and Marathon.

These events will take place on the streets of London, where spectators can line the route.
