London 2012 - will you go and see anything?

marty21

One on one? You're crazy.
i think i will, although i do love watching it on the telly, but assumming i'm still living in hackney in 4 years time, i will get down to the various stadia, watch some cycling, swimming, and athletics, maybe go for some of the less popular sports as well, archery, shooting, etc

Yes. I saw events in Sydney and it was ACE. In London I would like to see diving, athletics (sprints and hurdles), equestrian, and I would go and see the marathons and bike road races. Get excited UK, the Olympics are great! :D

The Paralympics that follow are also good. the track & field are brutal!!!!

All of it, as much as I can. Archery will be at Lord's won't it?

Anything at all. Handball, water polo, wrestling, the lot. Bring it on

we'd better win the archery:mad: they should bring back that law that men have to practice archery on sundays or something, and shoot arrows at welshman in herefordshire, or whatever it was

I want to go and see the rowing, I think it's up in Nottingham at the national water sports centre, which is in a rather nice spot down by the river trent. We used to watch the university team down there and it's great fun cycling alongside the boats shouting encouragement :)

i might try and see some hockey, apart from that just depends what i can get my hands on. definitely timed my holiday well this year by being off for most of the olympics  must make sure i do that again

The venue is already built. It's near Windsor Castle and is owned by Eton school - google 'Eton Dorney'.

Probably, if I can afford it. Unless we decide to make some money by subletting our Bethnal Green flat for the duration.

Cycling Road Race

Maybe track for the keirin event and the women's sprint or whatever else Victoria Pendleton rides in.

Probably loads for the Olympic Stadium on 100m final night.

Somewhat less for a day at the water polo I'd imagine

No, not a thing. I'm planning on renting out my flat at some extortionate rate to unwitting Olympic visitors, and going on holiday on the proceeds.

the button - you remind me of a guy who used to use the same pub as me; he never tired of telling the story of how he sold his 1966 World Cup Final ticket to some mug for a fat wedge.

Rowing's at Maidenhead.

Indeed and - hopefully - I shall be there! In fact I have two spare rooms and lots of floor space so if I am still in the same house you are all invited!

Urban rowing party at Chez Goth :D

As for me - athletics, always loved it and want to be there for the sprints in particular

I kind of know what you mean, but I have no interest whatsoever in attending any events in 2012, plus London will be full of people who stand on the wrong side of the escalators. Sounds like an ideal opportunity for a holiday to me.

My GF's terrified of crowds, so really doesn't want to be home when it's on. I'd like to see a couple of things just to be part of the event, but making a decent amount of money by renting my flat to people who do actually care about the sports.

Damn right I will.

Even if I've moved away by then, I reckon the temptation will be too great to resist.

I fully intend to be watching when Louis Smith - who just took the bronze on the pommel horse - takes the gold :)

 Bloody hell! Let's take two weeks off - drop him off at school in the morning and spend the day watching sport
I smiled from ear to ear thinking about your lad in a littlies school uniform :D

But yep! Drop him off to make his potato prints, and lets and head for the pool, providing its been built on time of course!
