Leggings etc in this heat?

I don't, but I just had a rather disappointing trip to buy clothes this morning, everything I could afford is a shitty shape or a shitty colour or both. I didn't buy anything.

Ack. I wouldn't worry - everything is in micro-seasons now - it'll all be different in two weeks :)

I like purple!! But I don't need any new clothes of any type! Mostly I am wearing linen capri trousers atm. Can't wear tight fitting stuff when it's too hot.

I ordered something in a catalogue the other day and I have a purple coat coming free. I figured I can sell it on eBay.

It may be hot outside, but I've spent the majority of the day in freezing air conditioning, hence leggings, frock and cardi.

i wore tights today. with a knee-length short sleeved dress. they're practical and look better than bare legs. Plus, it depends what time you were out of the house. I leave for work before eight and it was fucking chilly then, when the sun hadn't been up long, and was certainly very low in the sky. I had to have the screen heater on to demist the windscreen... which doesn't happen if it's warm.

I have to admit that I'm with Ms T on this one, I've never really got the leggings look. I see loads of women out and about in the heat, in leggings, and I just think ' Aren't you hot?!'
I don't think I've owned a pair since I was about 12, to be honest. This thread is starting to perhaps make me see the point though ... Maybe I'll acquire a pair and give them a try, sometime ...
I can see that they'd be useful for shoulder-seasons, when the weather's neither one thing nor t'other. But in this heat?!

Just been to a toddler group where about 3/4 of the women were in leggings plus other stuff over it... it looks incredibly uncomfortable in the heat. Given that tights are uncomfortable at the best of times, and lycra is sweaty at the best of times leggings/ jeggings look well sweaty.
Surely this is the time of year for a skirt or dress if ever there was a time.
Are they as uncomfortable as they look?

This should be combined with the Topless Blokes In Shops thread. One can only ask: 'when will people begin doing the right thing?'

There needs to be a town crier: 'Put on that shirt!' 'Take off those leggings!'

Coming soon to a Tesco near you:

Lots of people in China wear leggings/jeans all through the summer where it regularly gets up to at least 35 degrees. I worry they're all going to get thrush.

I totally see the wisdom of wearing leggings under short dresses and it's my spring/autumn uniform certainly, but I'd rather wear maxi dresses/maxi skirts in the really hot summer so I don't have to shave my pasty flabby legs. A month or so ago I did wear leggings under a dress but I nearly died of heatstroke. :D

But if it's working for people, good for them!

I wear leggings under skirts all the time, mainly to protect scar tissue from the sun. I don't find them too hot at all, much more comfortable than tights.

as much as i admire zettai ryouiki as a man of eternal shorts i must imagine that in summer it probably isn't the coolest option
If the leggings are mainly cotton (not the shiny ones), IME your legs don't get that hot. Unlike tights - even the sheerest pairs tend to get hot & sweaty on hot days.

For this weekend, I think it's just that a lot of people had planned to wear autumnal stuff, so that's what they had out to wear.

But: when walking around, I sometimes wonder if I carry some sort of microclimate with me, because I'll be wearing far fewer levels of clothing than others I see. But In hot climates I can wear the same clothes and also be fine.

Hot = wear dresses. Long floaty ones if you need to hide your legs.
Cold = wear trousers and small tops or dresses with leggings or tights.

This is what I thought. Maybe they wanted to wear what they'd planned and weren't going to let the weather get in the way! I have got to say I wear summer dresses all year round so am kind of the reverse to them.
