Leggings etc in this heat?

Just been to a toddler group where about 3/4 of the women were in leggings plus other stuff over it... it looks incredibly uncomfortable in the heat. Given that tights are uncomfortable at the best of times, and lycra is sweaty at the best of times leggings/ jeggings look well sweaty.
Surely this is the time of year for a skirt or dress if ever there was a time.
Are they as uncomfortable as they look?

I am wearing them right now. Tbf I am in an air conditioned office. They might be a bit hot but can often be more comfortable in the heat if you have big thighs and they rub together. Chafing ain't fun in this heat :eek:

Not uncomfortable at all, ime. Leggings have a miniscule amount of lycra in anyway - nothing like tights.

i'm wearing calf length leggings with a short floaty cotton frock over. i've been drawing today so i had to wear something that let me sit on the floor with some decorum and that i could wipe my fingers clean on if needed. toddler group would strike me as having similar requirements :)

I just have a light cotton maxi dress to preserve my erm dignity.
(nearly) all these women were younger than me so maybe I am not very fashionable. But I've done the lycra body suit in heat waves crap and think I have suffered enough for fashion.
Oh yeah, one had fur lined snow boots on!!!

I am wearing footless tights and a short skirt because frankly my pasty legs are better covered up.

I did consider leggings but decided footless tights would cooler...not sure that was a wise decision but hey ho!

Actual fur lined snow boots or Primarni knock-off Uggs? :hmm:

Also cheapo leggings from H&M, New Look etc. are really not very thick. I tend to buy more expensive ones for the winter from places like American Apparel as they are much thicker and warmer.

I wear leggings all summer. I wear leggings all year tbf.

Less uncomfortable than jeans and no-one bats an eye at anyone wearing them in summer :)

Nearly everything I wear is ankle length dresses anyway. I don't shave my legs but I'm quite lucky to have colourless/ light hair on them.
i only have one maxi dress, but it has a fairly slim skirt. i find it a pain to walk in tbh, hence short dress/leggings :)

Sainsbury's two pairs for a tenner are cheap and crap. But, you know, they're cheap.

I wouldn't. I want to show off my tan, goddamit!

For me this is another issue. Early in April I accidentally got a sun tan on my calves whilst I was wearing leggings. This has meant I've had to wear leggings all summer as the from the knees up I was sparkly white :D

I hate leggings. I wear a skirt at work, shorts on my bike or loose floaty trousers for going out in, in hot weather like this.

i'm a child of the nineties  leggings with dresses over are seared into my soul :D (also i go to a lot of festivals where it really is the most practical way to dress)

I think leggings must be the reason for those see thru dresses. Unfortunately still got one, why not just put a lining on it? I don't want to have to wear an underskirt with a summer dress but sadly have no other option.
Oh yeah, they never warn you these things a re see thru until you're out somewhere in full sunlight and suddenly realise.

black leggings/bra top, para boots and dresses in various degrees of seethroughness were my uniform when i was last a student :D i've come full circle

Same here. Not the festies bit, just the most practical thing to wear for my lifestyle.

Long skirts and dresses make me look like a galleon in full sail and as most designers seem to think all fat women are under 5ft tights are not always practical under the dresses I wear.

It's this kind of look, but not quite, iirc. I was there too :D

And early 90's  Combats were mid-90's. I assume you took drink throughout this period and are thusly even less likely to notice the infinite subtleties of women's fashion.

I'm not happy with all these sweater dress things about, they didn't particularly flatter my figure when they came round last time when I was still at school; I'm sure things haven't improved with age.
