yeah, there are signs on that cottage saying that people are living there so don't peer through the windowsFortunately I am a lover of bleak landscapes so Dungeness attracts me, I’ve wanted to visit since learning about Jarman’s garden in the 90s.
Most importantly we want photos of queues in petrol stations or better still fights in forecourtsStarting this today. Got the best weather of the next few days so hopefully I get to a few places and take some decent pics with my ancient phone camera.
Excited!
I can report most stations are closed, huge queues at Cobham services as I passed. Managed to get 20 litres near Faversham which will keep me going for a few days. Was very little queue but incredibly slow speed to pump the fuel. Most importantly we want photos of queues in petrol stations or better still fights in forecourts

Whats the experience? The memorial has an immersive experience which you have to pay for, at £6 it’s well worth it.
It’s about life as a Battle of Britain pilot, a short film, lots of screens, things to listen to and read. I’d say worth it for anyone who is keen on the subject. The memorial itself is free (you pay for parking) and has some superb views to the continent.Whats the experience?
Yes! I wasnt sure about mackerel and horseradish but deliciousLovely photos. Glad you got to reculver and could park by Botany Bay - not always easy!
walking through the Leas at Folkestone is nice and if you drive/walk along the coast to sandgate, there“s a little shack on the beach near the Ship which does lovely mackerel and horseradish rolls. Or a lobster shack in Hythe
The lack of fanfare isn’t much fun for the residents - we had fights during lockdownWish I’d seen your post in time trashpony - I could have had that for my tea if it was still open. I did drive through Folkestone on my way back to base camp. Quite like the vibe of the place along the front. I’ll have to explore it properly when I can walk better.
I was very pleased to park at Botany Bay given how small the parking area was. It was surprising to have such a nice beach at the end of a road with little fanfare for it.
I can imagine that all too well I find it much nicer to visit anywhere out of season when it’s much quieter. The lack of fanfare isn’t much fun for the residents - we had fights during lockdown
I’m sorry didn’t see your post earlier. If you go to dungeness, the little white pub just up the road from Derek Jarman’s house does very good chips.
I was going to Sheppey today, but it was so bleak even the dog refused to come. So Hythe was a compromise.
Will manage next time.
