Kennington Park Road flooded!

Is the Half Moon Pub going to be closed forever?

Last I heard was that they'd put forward a plan to reopen the pub with new flats upstairs (which is a killer for any pub) but had planning permission refused, so they're going back to the drawing board and looking at offices or something upstairs. Officially it's still due to reopen as a pub - if it ever does it won't be like it was though I'm sure. Full on gastro-pub probably.

Anyone know how the roads are round there now?
I need to get the 159 from Brixton to St Thomas' and it goes past Kennington Park and through Kennington.

Grr schools closing due to lack of water; hope they get it sorted soon, I'm not looking forward to lack of flushing toilets and baths this evening

kittyP are you mobile? because this route (Brixton to St Thomas's using the 159) is awful in every way at the moment. I've been caught out for a couple of appts in the last few weeks - it once took 1h45 minutes on a weekday midmorning) so yesterday took tube to Vauxhall and then walked the rest (20 minute stroll down Albert Embankment) to be sure to arrive on time. Got the 159 back and it took 50 MINUTES ... on a Sunday afternoon.

good luck

Thames Water now saying

"Water supplies are now starting to return to the area, however due to the size of area affected by this it may take a number of hours for the pressure to return.

Repairs will begin late this afternoon and we will re-open the road as soon as possible.

Kenginton Park Road is currently closed in both directions between Kenington Oval and Kenington Station, diversions are in place.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

Thank you for the advice everyone.

I gave it a go. Sat on the 159 for 40 mins and made it as far as just over half way to Oval/St Marks Church.

The bus was vibrating so hard that I couldn't read my book as I couldn't focus my eyes
The last remaining people got off when I did.

Hospital were fine and said loads of people hadn't made it in so no worries, see you next week.

Walked back home and now have ice pops :)

how is it now anyone know?

I came home on number 2 bus on South Lambeth road at lunchtime today. Traffic was much heavier than usual.
I normally go via Brixton Rd or Clapham rd. I'm already leaving earlier because of all the roadworks that are going on all year. Will I have to get up extra, extra early to get to work on time?

When I came home at around 6, the road was dry (but covered in silt/dirt) and they were hard at work digging a big hole. Was nice riding on an empty road from Elephant to Oval.

This did cause some considerable chaos. I went out at about half seven in the evening to go to our local Sainsburys, walked past a patient transport ambulance in traffic, shopped, pottered, queued, bantered with a couple of people, was warned by a stranger that there was a bee on my back and then walked home past the ambulance that was about a four foot further along the road than it had been fifteen minutes ago.

We don't have any water now.
The hot stopped earlier but I thought it couldn't be this as the cold was working but now no cold either.

I can't seem to find out via Google if it's related to this or not :hmm:
We're not that close to the incident.

Na it's not related. The rest of the building has water. It's just us :(

UPDATE: Closed southbound only, but traffic still chocka. Junctions full of gridlocked vans leaning on their horns. Angry taxi drivers.
Smug cyclists being completely unaffected :D
