It was a shame because I think some of the monsters, such as "The Harbinger", looked really good but there really was some awful acting and a clunky script.
I'm quite a fan of the original story so was curious to check this out, despite my inherent suspicion of anything ITV. Fairly tosh, all a bit 'Sunday evening family entertainment' with, as of others have said, very lighweight acting. I might check out the second ep. to see where it goes, but far from hooked.
I did not. I liked the idea of 'the harbingers', but thought the one we saw looked ropey as fuck and was overacting so much I initially thought there was going to be a 'it's a sideshow scam!' reveal
Saw episode 1 last night. went to bed after about 30 mins. From what i saw its one dimensional characters and cliche ridden cartoonish cobblers.
And if the ability to turn into the monstrous Hyde is some sort of genetic mutation - surely that takes away one of the most compelling aspects of the original story? - That Jekyll creates the monster himself by his own agency and is driven by his obsessions. This was more like the incredible hulk, but shitter.
