Indulge yourself with £60 Dulwich Hamlet branded designer gin

By way of update, and to give credit where it's due, we had an immediate response when we raised this with the club yesterday morning (we weren't alone in doing so). We understand that the club has taken appropriate steps to address this issue.
Hand out the unsold bottles to the homeless.

Obviously it's difficult to say much without possession of the full facts but credit to the club for taking this seriously and taking "appropriate steps."

The city of Liverpool somehow ended up being slandered about Hillsborough for many many years due to a massive cover up. (The Taylor Report was clear, it wasn't the fans fault however; the media - not just the Sun - ignored that and ran with something that suited their own agenda.) It took far too long for the truth to come out and even now it isn't totally accepted - despite a massive multi million pound inquiry and the court cases that are now ongoing.

The scary thing is the truth only came out because one person was fed up with the annual politicians platitudes at the remembrance ceremony that used to be held at Anfield each year and started to sing "justice for the 96". Thousands joined in. Andy Burnham had to stop speaking it got so loud. When he started speaking again, he said he'd got the message and would see what could be done.

I know this probably seems a little thing to many, I suspect it would to me if I hadn't lived in Liverpool at the time, but trust me the 'never their fault' line really hurts the families. Thirty years on they are still fighting people who think their children / brothers etc. caused their own death. I can't even imagine how that must feel.

So to add my story... Once B.I.G.* posted what he posted, and I did a bit more looking through that Twitter account, I emailed Ben and Tom and raised the issue from my point of view. Ben was in Canada on work, but despite that he emailed me several times, at length, over the next few hours. I won’t go specifically into what was said but it was clear he understood and respected my and other fans point of view, and he took very quick steps to fix the situation. I’m very grateful for his whole approach.

To be honest, I think this kind of situation can happen so much more now - there never used to be 15 years of social media history to trawl through. And I don’t think we can ever reasonably expect anyone, least of all a club run largely on a volunteer basis, to do forensic detailed due diligence on every potential partner that we don’t know from years of personal history from multiple people in the fan base. All we can do if and when a situation like this pops up is have people at the club who react as swiftly as possible in line with the feelings of the fan base. That’s absolutely what’s happened here.

So once again, thanks Ben and thanks B.I.G. And don’t buy the g*n.

*Sorry, I don’t know how to do the link-to-someone’s-name thing. Hopefully he’ll see.

This forum has someone who spends a lot of time trawling through others social media. If there’s ever a job going.....?
