Iceland in March - Advise me

What time of year did you go there rubbershoes ?

I'm at the planning stage. Will probably be booking a package through Iceland Air. Going with my partner, nearly 17 yr old step-son & 18 yr nephew. It will be the first time that any of us has visited & also a different type of break from what we usually do. Currently planning 3 nights. What would be the must do's?

So far I'm thinking:

Northern Lights - to do this from a boat or in a bus 'chasing' them? The latter I favour.
Blue Lagoon - this is expensive & there are other places but my thoughts are Blue Lagoon & maybe another spa?
Golden Circle Tour

Also thinking to add on snow-mobiling at least for the teens?

I really want to give the teenagers (& us) something mind blowing .

The Blue Lagoon is expensive but it's kind of cool. Most towns have their own spa but they're small outdoor heated pools and whilst enjoyable they just don't have thewow factor of the BL.

To see the Northern Lights we stayed in Stykkisholmur, a nice seaside village away from the light pollution of Reykjavik.

Golden Circle tour is great; mind blowing when confronted with the beauty and power of nature.

I’m having a tizz about how little time we are spending there so hesitant to book flights.

Flights out are 12.30pm ish. I’m thinking just bimble the first night. Next day do Golden Circle tour & Blue Lagoon this cosy is £150 per person. On Sunday daytime bimble then Northern Lights tour in evening. Flights home early next day.

Ideally I would like the flights other way round and it seems like not enough time but an extra day would mean spending a lot more.

Ach typing that out has convinced me to just book it.

Do it that's pretty much the textbook weekend trip to Iceland.

You could try to do the lights on the first night so you have a second chance if necessary.

That was my first thought but I got worried about transfer to hotel & out again. Flight gets in about 3.30pm & tour is at 8pm so worried about delays.

Thanks. I need to get on & get it booked in case flights go up in price.

I’m still faffing over excursions. Thinking Blue Lagoon on our way in from airport meaning it would be in there at 6pm late Feb.

Then Golden Circle Tour all day Sat.

Small lie in Sunday then day for wandering then Northern Lights bus tour.

It’s all so very ££££ even the airport transfers.

Hallgrimskirkja is worth a look. Lovely piece of architecture and splendid view from the top. The Hapra is a beautiful building as well. Both in Reykjavik, so you wouldn't be spending a lot of money and you can walk from one to the other...

Thank you much appreciated. I’m mostly booked now. Seems I was looking at a more expensive tour operator hence my WTF, it’s all still costly but not what I almost paid.
