I don't like Oasis, but I like this interview with Noel Gallagher

hiraethified
Particularly like his story about going drinking with Morrissey...

Liam Gallagher remains a total knob, of course.

The comment about buying coffee vs buying music is a good one. Fuck allowing your kids to listen to U2 though.

He does look more and more like Parker.

They can be amusing and often knobheads are quite amusing.

I used to like Oasis when I was younger but as I've got older I can't listen to any of their stuff. Was any of it any good and just ruined by overplaying/drunk idiots singing? Or was it always pretty rubbish?

Both brothers have a funny gift of the gab about them - I genuinely enjoy their interviews tbh - but not surprisingly big-ego millionaire middle of the road rock pop star loves the smell of capitalism in the morning

....when that happened you might forgive Noel for getting swept up in whatever the fuck it was that he thought was going on....but 20+years later for him to think of it as the good old days? Cool Britannia lol

You fucking twat

"There's only f***ing one thing worse than a fool who voted for Brexit. That's the rise of the c*** trying to get the vote overturned."

It's nearly 10 years since Noel Gallagher walked out of Oasis after one guitar-splintering backstage fight too many with brother Liam, and he's ruminating on an even more acrimonious split.

"You take part in a democratic f***ing process - if you don't like the outcome, go to North Korea", he goes on.

By far their best song is Columbia, their first single, which appeared on Definitely Maybe. It has a certain chugging shoegaze quality to it, which they oddly seemed to abandon.

I reckon he ripped the melody of that from ‘Here We Go Again’ by Stakka Bo.

Has anyone seen the Liam Gallagher film yet? I saw it yesterday. It's mildly interesting. Best thing Noel ever did for him was quit Oasis. Forced him to stop being a massive cunt all the time and actually work on his own material. Oasis had long stopped being relevant or even producing good tunes by then.

Worth a watch if you're interested in it all.

Columbia is more or less the only song of theirs I really rate now. Still worth a listen. I loved Supersonic and Shakermaker. First album was good. What's the story was pretty crap apart from the odd song though and after that awful....

It IS mildly interesting, but not sure how much of his new material is actually his own; it's a team of songwriters isn't it? Working to an Oasis-like template. Which is a smart move in itself, I guess. I think Beady Eye WAS his own stuff, which didn't go too well.

Agree it's easy to look back and dismiss Oasis, but the first 3 or 4 singles, plus B sides was the best run of pop/rock songs since the Buzzcocks.

Definitely Maybe, Whats the Story, Masterplan B-Sides and maybe 2 or 3 tracks off be Here Now and Standing On the Shoulder of Giants. Everything else just uninspiring dirge.

I saw this post and thought 'isn't that 75% of everything they ever recorded anyway?' but have now checked and there are 5 whole Oasis albums I had never even heard of. Pretty pleased with this tbh as I'm quite sure they were dreadful.
