how much would a gaming pc cost if it's no more powerful than a ps5/xbx?

A PS5 can cost as much as $500 while the proposed PC build can cost up to, if not more than, $1600.

You can't outbuild Sony cheaply. They have a huge economy of scale advantage.

You can build a nice PC for $500 but it won't match the PS5 for high end gaming spec.

More then a PS5. I'd look at company like PC Specialist if you don't feel comfortable building as they will use off the shelf parts, which will make your life easier in future.

What are you planning on spending and what resolution do you want to play at?

This is from 2021. Agree about the price.

It's also gets confusing as its hard to compare like for like. Consols are very good at running with the limited hardware they have. Whilst they appear to output at 4k, they mostly don't.

Ah well, that answers that then.

I just fancied playing Mortal Kombat 1. Can't really afford a console, and certainly not for one game.

You can stream some PC games if you've got decent Internet, but sadly this doesn't look to be on any of these platforms such as Geforce Now.

You can rent a gaming PC in the cloud with a service like Shadow PC, but that costs more.

I've used Geforce now and it was great, but limited games got me to buy a GPU. I belive ruffneck23 has experience.

My internet can't cope with anything like that tbh.

Geforce now is good but limited, I did the same as UnderOpenSky and got a gfx card.

Shadow is pretty good though, it's a full pc with decent gfx you can put your games on , but again depends on your internet connection ( iirc it needs about 15-20Mb ) but its a little pricey although you could just use it for a month.

No its the same gen, but a lower powered one they made to sell more cheaply.
Interesting. I had an xbox during the pandemic. I thought it was the series S. I've no idea, can't remember. Pretty sure I bought it prior to the release of the X.

Maybe I could trade up my ps4 pro. Can't really justify spending big bucks for MK1, although I did enjoy state of decay, and there's Starfield. But the issue for me was that installing a game meant simultaneously installing the update which meant having to download tens of gb of data simultaneously. It just isn't practical for me as I'm still on ADSL and it takes about an hour for 2gb, if I'm lucky.

Could look into it I guess, thanks
