How much does a college receive in funding for an AS/A level student?

All aboard the 303 bus.
We're currently having a debate at work because I need to order materials for our A-level course. But the A-level department have allocated £0 budget to our course and instead expects us to fund all of our resources out of material fees from student (which we can't do for a year, without basically pricing students out of the course).

Obviously the college must get funding for AS & A level students, but I can't find out how much (and they wont tell me at work).

Have you thought about submitting a freedom of information act request for the information?

I found out some basic info, it looks like its about £3k per student, but it depends on where they live, what they're studying etc.

I just needed a basic outline, as the dept was saying the didn't get enough funding to give us any materials.

We only need about £50 per student and we're covered...... I've taken it up with the SMT.

Do you have any better resourced "competitors" nearby?

If you do, pointing that out usually works wonders.
