How do I beat a Corsa into submission?

Last week my car refused to start. To be precise it refused to stay started- the starter motor worked then the engine would die and the ECU light come on. The AA arrived and could not diagnose a fault. The local garage had a look and could not diagnose a fault. I had fixed up with someone to tow the bloody thing down to the Vauxhall garage this afternoon and thought, I'll just see if it will start. And it did.

Now, it was fairly damp when it went wrong and is lovely and sunny and dry today. If moisture is the problem, where would I have to spray WD40 to keep the wet out of the electrics? And is the engine likely to cut out while I'm moving?

And I want to punish the car without leaving marks; any ideas?

my Corsa broke down today, had to be towed by the AA :(:( looks like it's the head gasket (he did tell me what it did, but I'm none the wiser :oops:) it's likely to cost more than it's worth to repair it, so looks like I'm car hunting now

imho head gasget could cost you about £300 - £350 if you get one of those guys who works on the car in the road by your house. At least that is what it cost us for a Peugeot 106 including getting the head skimmed.

Spray the HT leads and the distributor. But its likely that if this is the problem, the AA man would have found it. Sorry.

Now thats just silly talk!!

that's what I thought, the garage is very good and on the corner of my street, I'll get a quote from them, but the car is 11 years old, and not worth much, so I might just scrap it

I got the head gasket replaced on my Astra about a year ago and IIRC it cost just short of £400. Suppose it depends how the rest of the car is to decide if it's worth it.

it's only recently been causing problems, i'll get my mechanic to check it over, but I don't it to become a money pit :(
