Gymnastics

No more specialists. Much more effort put into pbars - it's the HUGE scores being put into this by just about everyone else that absolutely killed us.

This from the BBC website

"China beat GB to third by 1.37 points.

Louis Smith scored 14.766 on his disrupted pommel horse routine.

Even if he had scored the 16.066 that secured him silver at London 2012, it would not have been enough for GB."

Yeah, I did the rough maths in my head and guessed as much; Max needed to hit his WC score too.

It's not enough to rely on two guys getting 16+ on pommel when the chinese and japanese are consistenly banging out 16.133 on pbars.

Looking forward:

Sunday sees the Pommel finals, and we should (Mr Smith, don't piss me off again, because you're not as big as TV producers make you out to be and I will find you) be looking at a gold and silver

as well as having to chase it round three channels :mad:

Phil the Greek could off himself and Brenda in a murder-suicide and it wouldn't shift Andy Murray from BBC1 during Wimbledon. Clare Balding (or was it Hazel Irving?) actually sounded embarrassed to be telling us that it was moving again.

I appreciate they have to have the news on BBC1 (IIRC it's the law) but it would have been moved to a different time if it'd been football or tennis, and the gymnastics did not overrun. Eastenders can cunt right off.

My yank friend has been raving on FB all day about Simone Biles and how she's going to get ALL the medals :D

On the one hand it's nice to be able to actually hear the music for the floor for the girls (couldn't last night) but it does annoy me all the wrist and ankle twiddling/dancing they have to do, much prefer the mens leaping about.
