Ah well I now own a nice new black MacBook with new specs they just added tow weeks ago so the timing is good. It's currently in the hands of an Apple Genius eek:) who is tranferring the old shit onto it. Goodbye £1049!

no it cost me £100 to get a "genius" to look at it and transfer the stuff. by that point i'd just given up and tbh it saved me going to an apple engineer or calling one out. thing is, these bastard geniuses - they have don't answer the phone so i have n idea of tracking its progress
but thanks for reminding me i need a new copy of office i think

oh well, seems like the motherboard and the logic board crashed but the Apple Genius was able to retrieve it

mind you that iBook has been dropped, drank beer on several occasions and generally got a damn good hammering in three years

next time..i back up (mind you there were emails i just downloaded that were eseential so i'd had had to pay the Genius his fee anyway)

Yeah, and if I knew what i was doing. They in fact charged me £49 for it and when I opened my new Macbook everything was there. Not a thing lost and all in place so I was quite happy to pay that.

Loving this new Black MacBook - 2.4Ghz and 2 GB. apparently they just upped the spec a fortnight ago.

AND...I just discovered the Time Machine. Will be doing that every week from now on or maybe more often!

yeah and i did buy Office..looks a lot lot better than the 2004 one I was using. Would have bought iWorks but it's a compatibility question as everyone sends Word docs
